Well, the earth-thing is someting different, because it's not about opinion, but about facts. You can't deny the earth is round, because it just is.

If it comes to opinions, the majority mostly is incorect, because the majority in total is dumb. Yes I said it, people are dumb. You can see this every day by checking news.
So yes. If Diablo 4 will be what the majority of Blizzard-Fans want, it will be a shitty game, because the majority of Blizzard-Fans is dumb.
The majority of PoE-Fans is dumb as well btw.
As mentioned, the majoity of everything is dumb.

Good game =/= succesfull game. That's the thing.
Only because a game is succesfull, it is not automatically good. Look at Call of Crap - Not so Modern Warfare Part 23. Is it a good game? Absolutely not. But it's succesfull, because a large group of people enjoy it, the way it is.
Diablo 4 will be just like that. It will be a pile of steaming garbage designed for the Lootbox-Maniac-Audience that enjoys Blizzard-Games these days.

Might be true. But "the majority" + "critics" are ALWAYS a better estimate than your subjective opinion. You can say "false" or "true" as much as you'd like, but you are FAR from being objective here. You're not even trying.

The only 100% sure thing is I won't be preordering Diablo 4. I'll wait for at least a couple weeks to see what's going on.

If it's not fucking amazing I won't buy it. Simple.

I never played D1 or D2 during my childhood, and I gave D3 a miss cause everyone said it was trash. Maybe D4 will be good, I'll keep my eye on it. Given how large a cooperation Blizzard is these days I think it's quite likely accessibility will kill it for those of us who enjoy complexity and depth. That being said, D3 DID get slammed for that among other things so maybe they've learned their lesson. We'll have to wait and see.

They'd have to release something pretty damn good to put a dent in the "hardcore", complexity liking market that PoE has. They could easily smash it from a gameplay perspective though, and honestly that alone might be a compelling reason for PoE players to switch to it if the fundamentals are at least decent.

Orrrrr it could be a complete flop. Either way I have a passing interest in just about anything Blizzard announces cause if they're good at one thing, it's releasing a polished game. So many companies release their games in a buggy state that it's nice to see one that actually values quality and not releasing a product until it's ready. I have never been a Blizzard fanboy but I enjoyed Overwatch and Hearthstone for a time.

Lets just watch and wait for now before we make our judgments.

So you expect them to announce a game every year at Blizzcon. Roger. That may be a fair expectation, I have no clue. What new game did they announce at Blizzcon 2017? What about 2016? I actually have no clue if expecting a new game every year is off bounds or not.

Anyhow, not important. What they did wrong, was the hype. They told the Diablo fans to get hyped, then they read the internet, and came out with a counter message; "don't get THAT hyped". I found it all very funny.

Every Blizzon? Yes. Every year? No. If they dont have anything important to show, why do they need to do Blizzcon? Oh, right. Because no matter what garbage they will show on it, they will earn huge money anyway.

I will never buy Diablo 4 unless it is a really good game and all Twitch streamers acknowledge that. But the fact is, even Diablo 3 is a smoother game than PoE so I wonder how hard Diablo 4 technology will rock compared to PoE 4.0. If D4 turns out to be far more superior, that will be a strong incentive to try it.
