Item Stats - rolled on Drop or rolled on Identify`?

Hello, just got this one question:

are item stats rolled on ItemDrop or rolled when it gets identified?

searched forums and FAQs but didnt find any answer to that

I'm curious, too, but can't fathom why it would matter?

On drop.

I was once rolled back on a server crash and got the same stats on a rare.

even if it doesnt matter, the thing is called curiosity :)

just imagine, if stats are rolled in identify, ppl will weight the process of identifying totally different then. Or trading unidentified items will "feel" at least way different. IT rweally matters when it comes to the game engine, talking about time slice mechanisms, that limits the drops depending on the number of ppl playing on that servers at given time - to keep ecionomy intact.
