Can we freeze Shapers with crit cold damage below freeze threshold? #Answered

i have read about freeze ailment in PoE wiki

and it said
"Minimally freezing The Shapers requires a single hit of 1 000 000 cold damage."
but it also said that "Critical strikes inherently have a 100% chance to freeze."

What if we crit on Shapers with lower than 1M damage (if dont calculate with any modifiers)?
Will my spell freeze him? or i still need to reach 1M cold damage.

Freezes with a duration smaller than 0.3 seconds are discarded, effectively requiring a hit of 5% enemy life.[2] As an example, The Shaper has approximately 20 000 000 life. Minimally freezing The Shaper requires a single hit of 1 000 000 cold damage.

so no, because the duration will be too low with less damage that the freeze is discarded

thank you so much :D
Just so you know, the same is true of Shock. Crit and Chance to Freeze / Shock are effectively the same thing - they both will only actually occur (assuming you do roll the chance / crit) if you do sufficient damage. And in the case of Shock, the strength of the Shock will also be determined by how much shocking damage (usually lightning, but can be other types with certain uniques) you deal in one hit (so basically don't think you're always getting a 50% damage bonus - it's usually a LOT less).

Ignite is different - you only need to roll it and you'll ignite, regardless of damage dealt. Cos the damage of the burning effect itself will be determined by the strength of the hit that caused it, rather than whether they get ignited at all. That's pretty convenient for stuff that requires enemies to have been ignited to work, since you only need a smidgen of fire damage to activate them. Poison and Bleed are similarly always applied regardless of damage dealt, so long as the chance rolled favorably.
