Damage numbers

-1 vote for mandatory damage displaying.
I abstain if it's an option you can toggle.

I agree on the option to add number output!

It could be disabled by default, but it is important to get a clear visual of what you are capable of.

Yes to a combat log.
Please dear god no to WoW style floating damage numbers.

Dmg numbers is a horrible idea. Floating text is a appalling idea.

If you want an OP effective build, you need to know exactly what effects what. By giving this information away, instead of testing it for yourself, it is no longer an option. You must use the combat text.

This. 100% this.

If GGG adds combat text, it will become mandatory to use.
I do not want combat text in PoE. Yes I understand that some people want it as an option, but by adding it as an option, it ceases to be an option and becomes mandatory for everyone.

It removes immersion, and one of the key bonuses PoE is the immersion. It would be a sad day indeed if/when immersion in PoE dies.

So you want to find out if your character is doing more dmg with spell A over spell B? Why do you need numbers to tell you? Go kill some monsters and see how long it takes or how many hits it takes.

Floating combat text as an option is a perfectly fine idea. If you feel it would become 'mandatory' if it is added as an option then.... I guess it is a mandatory feature, but alas this is not the case. People who don't want it don't have to turn it on... pretty simple really. Im not a huge fan, but I can see the allure.
Well just because I'm in mood of joking :"we really need Max and current health above monster heads, also their mana, armor reduction, chance to evade, current and maximum number of charges, all damage and damage by damage type, attacks per second, dps, energy shield, and number pf supportable summons with nifty rainbow arks running from them to summons. As for clattering screen monsters don't really need models or even be visible on screen, saves alot of development time and money, same goes for landscape. Also every effect including burning and freezing should spawn text flying from head of character or monster. And every instance of damage including but not limited to burning, puncture or viper strike (number per viper strike per frame) should spawn an number above head and happy jump around the screen for several seconds"

Phew be real It is some times already "too much clatter" and adding more of it "this would make things complicated". There wasn't numbers on diablo series well last is shame :(, and really they were not really necessary.
I'd definitely want a dummy or something similar in town to try mi weapons and skills and see there the damage numbers. I don't really like the figures flying all above the monsters, but as an option it's ok.

Well, my first post btw. Congrats to the devs.

Or you could mouse over your skill, or press "c" and select skill of your choice. Even though it as much representative as dummy, it also gives you all data to calculate almaust anything with your build.

The only RPG that use combat log are roguelikes, but generally because they are turn based there are much more ways for monster to kill you rather, then just damaging you.
But I'd like to see how fast I really hit, how is the animation, how it flows. Is not the numbers. you can see the numbers there of course but it's not the point. If some of you have played Borderlands 2, they have a zombie dummy to shot at.
