this si a data of mail:
object: Path of Exile Account Unlock Code
from: support@grindinggear.com

FW mail: support@grindinggear.com

______________________________________________________
Your Path of Exile account has been locked because someone attempted to log in from a location that you don't typically play from - "Shaoxing, Zhejiang, China".

To play again, you'll need to type or paste the following access code into the game client after logging in:

xxx-xxx-xxxx
If you didn't just attempt to log in from a new location, then someone else has your account password! You should change it immediately which can be done on our website.

If you have any problems with this process, please contact customer support by replying to this email.

looks real to me. also the email didn't have any links to click so that generally makes something like that less suspicious.
Listening to one of the Podcast interview's with Chris. Chris mentioned that 1. everyone should have their email verified. 2. if you play PoE from your computer then anyone else that attempts to play PoE under another account (ie: hacked) the two IP's (or something) doesn't match and your account is locked out automatically.

Once that happens an email is sent to you at your verified email letting you know that someone in "name of country" logged into your account successfully. That you should follow the directions to unlock your account.
This looks like it was a real email from us. Anything that isn't from support@grindinggear.com, or anything that asks you to click a link that is not to www.pathofexile.com then it is NOT from us. If you think it might be suspicious, email support@grindinggear.com and ask us. We will never ask for login information either.

This is the automated security system we put in place last month, if somebody attempts to log in to your account from a different IP than normal your account will be locked until you enter that code. It looks like your account details were possibly compromised, this means they have your email address and your password. But hopefully the security system has prevented anything from being taken. I would advise that you change your password immediately. The only time hackers can access your account with this system in place is if they can access your email account as well, and they enter the unlock code for you.
If you use Hotmail you can also view the source of the email message and tcheck out the Authentication information to make sure it's all valid. Also lets you view more information about the email address it was sent from etc.
Computer specifications:
Windows 10 Pro x64 | AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero (WiFi) Motherboard | 32GB 3600MHz RAM | MSI Geforce 1070Ti Gamer | Corsair AX 760watt PSU | Samsung 860 Pro 512GB SSD & Crucial MX 500 4TB SSD's
Wow, looks like the security system really blocked an attemt to hack an account :D
