Guide: If you want splinters from legion encounters, check for general spawns

"
Your first instinct is to break as many mobs as possible, but the correct method of farming these encounters is to head to the very corners of the battle as fast as you can and check for generals, break them out above anything else. Along the way, hit high value mobs with icons above them if you can oneshot them. If you try to break everything while making your way to the edges, you'll lose valuable time you need to break the generals out.

"
It appears they drop splinters based on how much damage you did to them. Do all the damage possible before they retreat is 10 splinters, I figure it's 1 per 10% damage done.

the most ridiculous thing to me is these generals are not labeled. the only way you can tell they are the generals is by hovering over their them and seeing that their hp bar is orange.

ggg needs to put an icon over them or some other indicator that they are different from every other monster around
Interesting guide..

my only issue is the generals.. I hope they put some marker on the freaking map if they are on the monolith, running around wasting precious seconds seeking generals is just awful design.

splinters are "somewhat" common for me at least, perhaps I'm very lucky on this matter
"Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."

Once you break the cycle of fear no angels or demons can whisper you their sweet nothing words.

poe0.2/10. Nuff said.

A sufficiently overlwveled ED/Cont build will clear everything... other builds will struggle to find/release one general.

What annoys me to no end is that the monoliths almost always spawn near a wall with half the mobs on the other side often unreachable entirely without a hell of a lot of backtracking.
Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive.
Patch Notes 3.19:
Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment.
i just killed my first general. he didn't drop a single splinter.

he did drop an exalt though, so fair trade

I'll give you a splinter for that exalt. You profit 35c. ;)
