Is Arcane Will broken or am I missing something?

Ok. "Gain 4% of maximum mana as extra maximum ES".

Now. I am adding and removing a Healthy mind Jewel from the top location in the witch section of the tree. My maximum mana shifts from 1573 to 1993 for a total of 420 mana which multiplied by .04 (4%) equals 16.8 ES. My ES changes by 17 points.

Now obviously this math checks out for the most part, but I can't understand why the ES is being applied AFTER all ES adjustments. The Watcher's Eye clarity mod "Gain (12-18)% of Maximum Mana as Extra Maximum Energy Shield while affected by Clarity" doesn't work like that. Why does this have virtually the same wording but works totally differently?

Huh, are you sure about that? I thought Rian fixed that bug over a year ago...

I spent a lot of confused time seeing posts about this yesterday and comparing to the code which was clearly correct (further confunded by the first thread I saw about it having people seemingly confusing the heirophant & guardian with regard to which was using the same wording), only to discover that the reason the code is correct is because Rian already fixed this locally while I was away.

Yes, the initial implementation of this was bugged. Instead of being based on the pre-existing stat (used on the Heirophant's Sanctuary of Thought node) that does the same thing correctly (and is consistant will all other "gain as extra" or "converted" mechanics in the game), it was copied from an internal mechanic used to grant ES to monsters based on their life which sounds similar, but is intentionally very different in what it's actually doing, and isn't intended to apply to players. This has already been fixed on our local testing realm, although I can't say when the fix will go to the live realm.

So your saying that the ES from watcher's eye only applies after all ES adjustments? there's no way it costs that many exalts and has such a pitiful effect.

All I know is my math is right, the new Arcane Will Passive node doesn't give @#$@% for ES when you increase your mana.

Watchers eye roll is much higher, 12 to 18% range

Mana guardians can have over 15k mana, although I'm not 100% sure that's easy to get now after they removed the nodes behind MoM

At 15k mana, a 15% roll watchers eye gives a mana guardian 2250 ES. That's pretty far from pitiful for a jewel slot, I'd say.
