Not sure I'd know how to use that to its fullest. Seems like the life recovery from flasks would turn off pretty much whenever you needed it.

Wouldn't it still work with instant flasks?

Don't think the instant part counts as recovery.
Pretty sure it does.

Also, Forbidden Taste.
yeah it doesnt seem like u can use it with any pure es build or make good use of it with a lot of hybrids. Maybe with the chest that takes damage as chaos would be a thing. Also builds with high hp and a smaller es pool I guess?

They said it was a melee patch, sure, but the best melee has always been either a life based duelist/ranger doing crit 1h or an es based shadow/witch doing crit 1h. I feel like ci melee has been the best way to do melee for probably 50% of poes history so i dont rly see life v es as anything to do with melee.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
Have to give it a try.
OK let me say this again, calm down. Calm the F down.

First of all, you will need 2 flasks to 100% utilize this new effect. Then you need to know that one use of a instant life flask is only like 800-900 hp. When you already have 9000+ ES, how much does this really help you? I really don't know.

One use I see this though, is that it helps a lot when people are in the early stage of CI. People always struggle when they have less 8000 ES because of the gear scarcity in the early stage of league. For that stage it really helps, but other than that I would never, like ever give up 2 flask slot when I'm on CI and to use this effect. All in all, this is not a "buff" to ES, but a QoL for CI build in the early stage of league.

Right? And, if they dont nerf the drop rate, its something you can easily find even in SSF.

The way I think this will work best is with life based attack characters, that also have a small/medium es buffer on top of their life. Just means that you have still have es with blood rage up.

Err...CI has 1 life. This would just insta turn off with CI. This thing is quite clearly meant as a push for more hybrid (life + ES) builds, particularly non-lowlife hybrid builds. And nowadays there's several ways to deal with the chaos damage issues of such builds, beyond just Shavs (Esh's Mirror, for example). And since this is a melee patch, it's worth noting that both Shadow and Templar align well with hybrids as well as playing melee. Also of note - MoM + EB builds, which they're also good at.

Edit: Another thing worth experimenting with is combining this new Sorrow of the Divine with a Corrupted Energy jewel and an Incandescent Heart so that your damage is pretty split between your life and ES pools. That way you can make use of this effect more often. Obviously, you'll need to be building such that your life and ES pools are fairly even in size. May not be worth it in the end, but definitely worth trying out to experiment with. Use the Blood of the Karui life flask.
