How to scale the damage of Bane
"This entirely depends on your character. I'll give you some more or less realistic examples comparing 16% incr. spell damage to 4% non-ail multi (which is the effective difference between your two options): Char A has 300% incr. chaos damage and 0% non-ailment chaos damage over time multiplier. Adding the additional 16% incr. chaos damage from eldritch battery will result in 4% "more" damage.
the-math
300% incr. chaos damage leads to base damage * 4
Adding 16% "increased damage" on top leads to base damage * 4.16 This is 1.04*(4* base damage) = 4% more damage Char B has 100% incr. chaos damage and 100% NaCDoT. Adding 16% incr. chaos damage will result in 8% "more" damage. Adding 4% NaCDoT results in 2% "more" damage. Eldritch Battery is superior for Char B since he has high NaCDoT and low "total increased damage". Char C has something that makes the jewel superior ;) tl;dr: Compare for your char in PoB to be sure. In general: A lot of "increased" has diminishing returns. NaCDoT is usually great, but has some diminishing returns. Pure "more"-modifier (e.g. squeezing Zealotry Aura in) have no diminishing returns. Prioritize "increased damage" if total increased damage is low. Prioritize NaCDoT if NaCDoT is low. Always grab every "more"-multiplier you can get. Let tomorrow be about solutions. " Another option is Blight on totems with a Spreading Rot jewel, which puts Wither on your Blight and extends the duration of Blight's hinder. Then go with Enfeeble over Temp Chains with Despair in the Bane link. |
