So basically gear is really cheap, the only essential items to make this work is a shavronne's revelation in your right ring slot, a pair of omeyocan boots, a watcher's eye with discipline es on hit, a zerphi's last breath, shackles of the wretched, and soulthirst belt.

-NOTE you can improve, that's just the baseline, you can still go without the discipline watchers eye but mana costs fuck you when you have 400 soul eater stacks. other items you should look into getting are temp chains effect helmet and solstice vigil. it is also important you get cannot be inflicted with corrupting blood, and silence. you loose some slots but you gain enough attack/cast speed to make your skills .01 use time so it's kinda worth it.

The only build essential links are herald of ice with curse on hit temp chains in your shackles of the wretched, you can throw in another support of your choice. then you need a discipline, and the rest of your mana is your choice, best choices i've found are vitality, herald of ash, and herald of thunder.

your best choices for base builds, would be something like winter orb with leap slam for movement, or flicker strike. both options REALLY benefit from the attack/cast speed. but if you have another idea you should feel free.
