Glass Cannon Build
I was thinking of creating a build of hunter as follows: critical Chance, critical damage and attack speed, a real glass Cannon, as I'm still at level 9 I wonder how late in the game to find out whether this build is feasible, follow the link to the build, comment please. Sorry for my terrible English.

why not take the attack speed insted of movment speed ?
i meen if your normal bow dose 100-100dmg and u get +238% dmg(think i did the math right) from all those talents that increase the dmg to 238 and 1% (ea 1% attack speed) woud increase dps by 2.38 while 1%dmg only by 1% becuse +dmg% only count from the base dmg before all other +dmg is applyed so the +3% attack speed woud increase dmg with 7.14%dmg and the +4% attack speed with 9.52%dmg |

Been using a similar build and it has a relatively good synergy with frenzy and lightning, and I am doing around 1k dps on frenzy with 950 light arrow at around 35. Thats not taking into situational things such as frenzy charges and light arrow's chain and its multi proj (If I did frenzy is about 1.3k and light is hovering in the 2-3k range).
Sufficient to say, if you can stay out of the way, you should do well. Also, I suggest stocking up majorly on life/mana leech, you will likely need them. Though i did not go completely, I started at duelist and grabbed Iron grip and Blood Magic before I started on my dps bow nodes. Last edited by EpsiIon#3923 on Apr 3, 2012, 12:19:39 AM

I too am a fan of glass cannon builds in action-RPG style games in general. But I'm curious as to how's the survivability like in Merciless difficulty?
The only similar experience I had was hell difficulty in D3, and my glass cannon speedazon had an extremely difficult time (too bad I only reached cruel difficulty during open access week :( ) | |
The survivability differs from player to player, with efficient micro you can play relatively well without dieing on most things, reflect mobs are a PITA though. Im most cases your biggest issue will be bosses, especially if you spec your main attack to be light arrow becuase, while light has the most dps of any skill in the rangers arsenal due to its multiplicative nature when impacting more then one unit in a cluster (Common enough and easy to do with little positioning).
You can't afk faceroll spam attacks and expect to live, but you dont really need to faceroll spam flasks to live either. |

I've been using a pretty similar build. as long as you're careful survivability in merciless is pretty easy. I haven't tried chaos yet.
Also for single bosses just hit em with projectile weakness and use elemental hit with added elemental dmg and faster attack supports, they melt in 1 or 2 seconds on merciless. |

I'm using this build for a while im lvl 24 now its seems ok and really powerfull, but the survivalbility is a bit low in my opinion (could be me..).But the witch seems to be more powerfull for some reason, guess i need to be higher level to deal more critical and have a higher crit chance

I'm using this exact build atm. although i can't compare it to anything as this ranger is the only class ive played, so far it has been very effective. Ive only legitimately died once and im 47. We will see in merciless though.

Investing in defense will actually result in you killing quicker by allowing for more aggressive play.
I'm a 68 ranger and had to crawl through chaos until i got my unique chaos armor (+1000 hp) and some hp passives. I can't imagine how slow it would have been if i had no defensive nodes at all. Now that im tanky the place is a breeze. The idea of killing things before they get a chance to hit you is good in theory, but in this game it just doesn't work due to unavoidable arrows, flicker strikes, things leaping on you and damage reflect mobs. The devs really designed things so that defensive nodes are almost mandatory. |
