Unable to MapViewOfFile
I'm trying to download the client but the install client continuously crashes with message Exception: Unable to MapViewOfFile ~~~
I use win 10 64bit, i7-7700, gtx1060, 32gb ram. I don't think the spec is the problem. I played POE just a month ago with this same computer. I erased the game after the end of Betrayal, and I'm trying to install it again. But now the game is unable to install. I know so many people other than me are having the same issue. I hope to get appropriate solutions. **The problem occurs when INSTALLING the game, not even playing. Last bumped on Aug 18, 2019, 1:40:22 PM

" I find it quite funny that every time someone has an issue, it's nearly essential to make claim that ''so many other players are having the same yadayada...'' It's BS, nearly every issue in vast majority of topics is unique to their own machine. Just because some dumbass makes an assumption based on having similar enough situation and makes a replay that he is experiencing the exact same thing when quite clearly it's something different, does not make it so. It's an installing issue, which means you most likely have some corrupt remains of an old installation ,or your OS is bricked to a point where it finds it hard to install a specific piece of software. No rest for the wicked.

TimeoFRuin I decided to move from the Steam install to a local install to stop the insane wait times experienced when updates are released for PoE on Steam.
In my case the installation of the game would appear to fully complete and then I'd receive the error "Unable to MapViewOfFile for chunk header.. Error Code: 8 Offset: 12347965440 Size: 64580". I tried various solutions and attempted somewhere around eight reinstalls (the installer redownloads all of the files each time) and worked with GGG support via email but nothing worked. Today I revisited the problem and these are the exact steps that fixed it for me. 1. Sign in to the GGG site and choose PC download for the client. 2. Run PathOfExileInstaller.exe until completion. 3. Run the new shortcut on the desktop, "PathOfExile.exe - Shortcut". 4. Installation is run and the game "allocates space" and downloads everything. 5. Error received exactly as many times before. 6. Accept error and cry a little. 7. Open up install location and run PathOfExile_x64.exe 8. Installation is run again and the game downloads all files (this time with a percentage bar!). 9. Setup succeeded. 10. Game launched with no problems. In my case running the x64 executable is critical for the installer for some reason. |
