It's simpler than any of you realize.

Chitus was in a position to buy speed meta gear way earlier in Dynastic Succession League so he got through the lab first.

With the full backing of the Perandus industrial cartel, Chitus basically had uncapped movement speed and mirrorworthy league items to slide through like corn kernels after a pub crawl.

Which basically obsoleted the labyrinth, because hey why bother when your family tree isn't in fact riddled with a recessive infertility gene?

Somewhere between the "Chitus becomes emperor" and "Malachai does his thaumaturgy" stuff there is also the night of a thousand ribbons, but I don't think we have all that much information on that.

I believe it's also heavily implied that Chitus used the unnamed Ezomyte warrior to make it through the Lab, promising him the throne or something and then poisoned him right before the last trial (hence why you see the armored skeleton slumped over right outside the door). At least I think that's right. It's been awhile since I actually read any of those poems you find scattered around.

As for Izaro, I always felt kinda bad for him. Yeah, he's crazy as hell and always trying to leap slam your face through the floor but he ain't all bad.
