Fix for PoE installer error 0x80070643

Just decided to share this fix I found for the broken installer on this website.

I installed PoE a long time ago (on another computer). Decided to try it again today, and it would just not install.

Searching for the error it gave me "0x80070643" showed a lot of people having the same error message but they were either ignored or did not have a proper solution.

PoE installed just fine for me on Steam but it created a brand new account, so I was determined to get the non-Steam version working. And the fact that the Steam version worked showed that it was an issue with the installer and not my computer.

So here are the steps to bypass the broken installer on this website.

1. Download the installer from this website.
2. Download wix (it is what the installer was made with) https://github.com/wixtoolset/wix3/releases
As of this post you should get wix311-binaries.zip
3. Unzip this folder and put the PoE installer in it.
4. Open a command prompt (win+r and type cmd) and go into the wix directory.
5. Type "dark -x temp PathOfExileInstaller.exe"
6. Go into the new folder temp/AttachedContainer and open PathOfExileInstaller.msi" with 7zip.
7. Double click on the file "Core.cab"
8. Extract the file "GAMEEXE" and rename it installer.exe or whatever you want as long as it ends in exe.
9. Put that file in the place you want to install PoE and you are done.

Hope this helps anyone and I suggest GGG get rid of the broken wix installer or just let people download the final exe file.

After updating from windows 7 to 10 I have the same problem with the 3.9 update.
I tried to follow the advice but i'm blocked at the line when i'm supposed to enter the command:
dark -x temp PathOfExileInstaller.exe

My command line is probably incorrect and there is probably something to modify but i can't find what it is.

Can you help me please?

You can take this fresh extracted installer->https://www101.zippyshare.com/v/6UquF0s5/file.html

Put that un-zipped file in the place you want to install PoE and you are done.
