Try to play "Life 1.0".

Life 1.0 is hardcore af tho. Saving's disabled, the economy is a complete bitch and you have to grind a lot just so you can buy life and mana potions. Forget about pricey drops, it never happens.

Don't let me get started if you run a full party. The aurabot needs love and support, the little cursebots need CONSTANT looking after or they wander into danger, not to mention all those expensive lvl 21 gems.

Sure the graphics are great if you have good "eyes" and the surround sound is 10/10 if you have the legendary "ears" but sometimes the NPCs are real shits.

The Boss levels are pretty much impossible.

Yes I'm an IRL white knight but you have to just GIT GUD.
My mapping is absolutely awesome, living the dream! Took me many scrolls of wisdom, farming doctor cards and going marauder physique but I enjoy the grind a lot and it feels nice to experience life at it's fullest and actually use your brain (:

80% of NPCs are waste of time, it's just designed by developers like that.

Not sure where you guys play but my realm is overrun by bots. at least they are easy to recognise, they all have painfully looking bent necks, constantly staring down at these small shiny screens. AI and pathfinding is terrible too, they keep running into others and onto busy roads...
At least MTX are reasonably cheap but it is still full of P2W

40k online just on steam (same amount if not more on official client) "verge of breaking"
LMAO.
I tried the Alpha of Life 1.0 once, but quit. The bad programmed NPC's destroy the Fun. They usually react disturbed, when you try to implement your normal daily routine from wraeclast into it.
"You cannot set your lion on fire because it look cool" , when you take a walk with them through the City. Or when I decorade my hideout with the dead bodys of my enemys...

I`ve been told yesterday what usual poe player is like this: playing on his main account using his main rig. And running poe on 7-12 virtual machines on other rigs with farming bots.

Was shocked.
But if you think, this actually making sense, why some are not broken this league. Also about "player" retention. So divide 40 000 at least by 7 may be?

______________
And some of us, oldschools, what just come to play and trying to have fun..
Without using any bots or scripts.
Harsh world.

I absolutely feel you. I am not joking when I say that I do feel like I am surrounded by actual NPCs in this world.

You ask why is NPC doing X? They don't know, they just do it. This applies for ridiculously many things in their cycle.
You ask anything about NPCs actions or goals? "Just to follow the program."
Even NPC gatherings are mostly spent half the time quiet on the phone.
Going out with some nice player chick in a restaurant? Often almost everyone but you two are on the phone / laptop.

Also an interesting thing is that when confronted about their phone, they are not willing to let go of it. Their programmed lines go mostly as such - "It's easier like that" & "It's acceptable in nowadays generations to be on the phone all the time" and of course "It's just a habit, I don't know"

It's unfortunate and there is nothing to do about it but there are plenty of smart players left! Don't be demoralized, it just takes even more effort than before to find them due to the growing number of NPCs.

Too true, sad times when a POE bot displays more intelligence and autonomy than an IRL npc!
Instead of finding the smart ones, I prefer to go the opposite route and looking for the hidden gems the NPCs haven't swarmed yet, like this little spot I found recently and camped out at for 4 days without encountering a single NPC! paradise on earth in my books :)

Oh indeed! I also enjoy such non-infested environments a lot and I often plan my trips around fishing & nature as well but I don't like solitude. I prefer being with a cool female player and going on wild adventures together; exploring the world, taking part of all activities and enjoying each other to the fullest (:

Although places like tourist cities are a definite no-no for me. There's no difference in the amount of NPCs except now they are loud, obnoxious and equipped with neon swimwear while being extremely overweight.
Albufeira in Portugal is something that I'll never forget. I had a very nice female player with me who never makes fun of anyone and even she couldn't help to express herself that it grosses her out so much that she doesn't want to hang around there for long.

Agreed, coop play is the way to go, so luckily, adventurous female player confirmed ;)
