POE loot vs Diablo 2 loot
|
If you have a buddy (or a 2nd account, trivial when the game goes live), you can set up a TP at the entrance to Upper Prison, and farm Brutus + Chest with very high efficiency.
Solo you'd have to run all the way to the Prisoner's Gate WP after the kill, but it's still a decently fast boss run. Last edited by aimlessgun#1443 on Sep 20, 2011, 5:02:49 PM

WHy do you need to run to the WP? Just open a TP.

GGG has said that farming bosses will not be an effective way to gain loot, or that they want to take steps to prevent boss farming.

" They straight up want bosses to suck for loot? Or do they want bosses simply be on par with other options? If they just want bosses to suck for loot, I'm very against that decision. " WP is for when you are farming solo. Think about it for a bit ;p Last edited by aimlessgun#1443 on Sep 20, 2011, 5:58:20 PM

Unavailable The only one I've seen. I like to play Path of Exile because it it NOT Diablo 2. If you want D2 drops, go play D2. How hard can it be? Custom built Ryzen 7 5700G, Radeon 6600 8gb, 16GB RAM, Win 10 64 bit

" I'm cool with uniques being that hard to find. The problem is that 90% of the gear I use right now (everything but my chest armor) was White when it dropped. Because of the socket system + 6 stat-types of armor, almost everything you find is junk. Which means that the "yay loot" feeling is gone from the game. I care FAR more about how many high end orbs I find than about the rarity/mods, because of how abysmally unlikely it is that you actually find a magical or rare item that you'd actually consider using. NewDude: I killed Brutus. Now I have no quest. So what now?
Guy: I guess there are people that NEED quests for direction. Guy2: I always wonder how those people get through life. GuyMontag: They get married. Wives are like quest-givers. Some items in this post are currently unavailable.

Aren't rares supposed to be better than uniques? I know I found one earlier in the game and didn't even hold onto it.
What I liked about the uniques in D2 was that if you saw a unique shako drop, you immediately knew what it was, and everyone would scramble for it. I mean you knew when that color dropped what you where getting. For me that was an awesome feeling. Some people might not like getting the surprise till they ID. I kinda like the idea of having uniques like in the 80-90% range with more perfect rolled rares being in the 90-100% range. This way seeing that color means something big. Just seeing it drop is a huge bump in your stomach because you know its useful and valuable immediately. But you also can always improve with more play getting high rolls on rares. | |

I believe we're looking at a whole series of new Unique items now, and getting rid of the old ones, so we'll see some cool unique stuff soon, hopefully.
The idea with these uniques is that they'll all have some special effect, like some stat you can't get anywhere else. It could be that the unique won't be great for everyone, but for some people it could be worth creating a character built entirely around using the special effects from the item. As to what those effects will be, only time will tell! Balance & Design
