Soulrend duration is a joke

A more interesting question would be if it can shotgun. That'd make things a LOT more interesting, it might be a fun skill to try some poison shenanigans on in that case. The dot of the skill itself would be really good for clear, while poison would make short work of single targets.

nope.

As for slower projectiles he's probably meaning slowing it down means more dot applications (rather than proj dmg) a bit like getting more out of ball lightning.

But all that's going to do is slow things down overall if your firing out projectiles fast enough to keep the dot on anyway.

What it does is, as long as it is passing through enemies it is reapplying the DoT in an AoE around it. The issue is that the delivery mechanism then completely sucks.

I'll play around with it more when i hit maps, but thus far it has been a resounding meh.

Anyone who suggests bumping the projectile damage of Soulrend has no grounds to suggest *anything* regarding the mechanics of the spell, which deal virtually no projectile damage worth bumping.

He's not suggesting the support to up the projectile damage, but to allow more application of the DoT and better uptime on it. Is it worth doing? I have no idea, but your assumption of his reasoning needed corrected.
^ its the ball lightning principle, I was under the impression it continued to apply as long as the target is within the radius so slower proj acts as another duration extension method for single target.

Is it worth using? I have no idea as far as I was concerned Soul rend was dead on arrival as soon as i saw the damage values on bane.
Sounds like a really nice cast when stunned spell lololol they keep buffing it every league!

He's still not actually using it, so it's all theorycraft and presumption on his behalf. That much is simple fact.

Sorry, was that 'better than that' enough for you? :P

Oh so just because I don't play it as my league starter I don't know how the skill works? GGG literally explained the slower projectile interaction in their skill reveal also did it occur to you that I actually watch streams while I am playing/talk to friends playing the build?. gsus the ignorance...

I think Soulrend has the potential to be awesome, but its just too slow of a skill. I dont mind the projectile being as slow as it is, thats fine. The cast time is abysmal.

Feels like you have to stand still for eternity to make it leave ur hands. And its really apparent when you go into memory fragments/incursions. You get mobs in ur face and u have to load up ur spell as slowly as Dr.Strange takes to activate his time stone.

Bane feels snappy and comfortable to play with.
Slower projectiles does help the DoT's time, as the duration timer is always refreshed while the projectile is in range. but it does not increase the damage of the DoT, since it only boost projectile damage when it hits, not the DoT portion, which is where most of the damage is.

Personally, I'm not liking the skill myself. Bane, Contagion/Ed chain reactions are fine for me. I remember clearing half a very small Delve with one Contagion/ED. last league. With all the extra Area nodes, new Aura, and Contagion being able to be on 40 targets, could get some epic chain waves.
I tried it briefly again after hitting 68, and the skill feels a lot like the old frostbolt ignite builds. But you shouldn't even try it without GMP and decent casting speed. The casting time is abysmal, to say the least.

I think it could beat bane at clearing, because bane works like flameblast, but without the cleanup that prolif provides, soulrend clears like a chaining projectile skill.
Soulrend is only good in open areas. For everything else bane is superior.

So for a speed clearing, maxed out on cast speed, running the same open area maps over and over where you can let the boys fly it should be good. Very situational.
I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.
