how to raise a ZOMBIE ????

hello, I made a witch, I always play necro and this closest you got. I have a gem, from a reward, to raise a zombie, it is like lvl 2 or 3 now, yet I cant figure out how to RAISE them. says to find a corpse, I do. then hit the second of a 3rd mouse button. I have a 2 button, with a scroll wheel. and can push the wheel down for a click. but it dont work. I have tried changing the key, but still no go.

also, Im working up and slightly to the left on my skill tree, what is a fire walker ? is this like a zombie, a summon creature ? or it help the zombie be stronger or what ?

Im lvl 9. I been using a bow so far that I got off like the first boss before town, Im now getting to area thats getting tough, lower prison is what it said, nearly died there, not died yet. what is best weapon for me ?

oh my, you're a witch, dude, you should be casting spells not shooting with a bow, I have like 4 blue ability gems right now, and my witch is level 6, dont you at least have fireball or ice nova?
as for the zombie issue... I don't have any problems with summoning it, I set mine to cast when I press 'T' works fine, dont use it much, going for a lightning witch kind of thing

sorry for double post, I forgot to mention, as a witch, try to stick to wands, and focuses, we dont really need armor, because we get the energy shield, look for gear that says something like "energy shield 4" and stuff, that means it adds 4 hit points to the shield, who needs armor when you can have a regenerating shield? :D

ahh ok thanks, yeah I was going for a summoner but the game dont really seem to be heading that way, would have thought id have minnions or something....... will look into the armor. Im lvl 9 only skill I have is some ice skill, first skill I got was the zombie, then this ice wall it is the right click on the mouse. the wands and focus shoot fireball or something or do I just slap them with the stick ? I left click and it runs to them and hits them. so maybe I have a bug ?

I just figured this out myself:

-when you get an ability gem, you first have to socket it to make it available for use.

-when you socket it, you then have to click one of the five buttons (labelled QWERT by default) in the lower right. This assigns the ability to a button.

-then you find a corpse and press the appropriate button near the corpse. I've found you don't need to have the corpse targetted or clicked-on.

I haven't figured out how to change what ability is assigned to the right-mouse button.

/edit: NM, I figured out how to set something to the right mouse button. The three boxes above the QWERT boxes are left, middle, and right mouse respectively. I had thought the symbols were plus signs but they are supposed to be mouse buttons.

You may have a mace or axe equipped instead of a wand, that could be you are running to them and hitting them. Read the item description.

If you want to raise a zombie, hover your mouse over the corpse and press the button or key associated with the skill.

To change the key that the skill is assigned to click on it and choose a different icon or click the (x)button to remove it.

You'll get/find other skills to for summoning soon. If you look at the passive skill tree, you'll get a rudimentary idea of the kinds of builds you can make- but then you have to make it work with the gear and skills in the game.

Once you get an idea of how the game works it will be easier to plan for your next characters. That's the fun of games like this.

A summoner or minion master type build or hybrid is viable just spend some time studying the skill trees to see where you want to spend points to focus on it.

You just need to be near a corpse to summon a zombie
no need to target. At first youll get 1 zombie and as the 'gem' levels up automatically with you (press the little + when it pings) you will gradually get to summon more, i think its +1 every 5 levels or so. Youll also shortly get skeletons, these only last x seconds but dont need corpses, very usefull when you zone in an instance as your zombie(s) dont follow :(

I got a witch at 17 or 18 and can pull up 3 zombies and 7 skeletons in a few clicks, thats a lot of door or tunnel blocking while you rain down firestorm endlessly with massive mana regen :) Only charachter ive played tha hardly ever dies especialy with a rapid shield regen :)

thanks all for inputs. I know how to set the tree and use gems, problem is is I cant use the middle mouse button. so that skill is worthless. seems like you could remove the button many folks might still only use a 2 button mouse ? I have a wheel mouse that can press down for 3rd, but it only flashes the screen and no zombie. got lvl 15 last night, and have skeletons can raise 6. so that is nice, be nicer if could have a few zombies also. but in the KEY setup there is nothing for the 3 mouse buttons, cant change them. only change the 5 qwerty skills. so very lame there.

Razor, could you post a screenshot? Either your middle mouse button is broken/game not reading it, or you may have socketed the Raise Zombie gem into a item that you dont have the required stats to be using. (If its read)
If possible post a screenshot with your inventory opened please.
