"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package." - Fix inside!

I could instal the client but when i try to run it i get a message saying
"A write operation was performed on a read only object"
followed by a appcrash.

Any solutions?

much appreciated.

*edit*

So got it to work, i took ownership of the installer, installed the client and after that right clicked the client and chose the troubleshoot compatibly option, it ran its course and finally worked.

Until the Installer is fixed.....if it says:

"

A write operation was performed on a read only object

Then:
"

The Fix is to delete the content.ggpk 0byte file in the games install folder.
OS: WinXP SP2 32bit
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 3800+
Ram : 4GB Kingston PC2-6400 5-5-5-18
Mobo: Abit KN9-Sli (NF570-Sli chipset with Realtek Audio)
GPU: ATI HD4670 1GB
HD: Maxtor 20GB - OS - Seagate 500GB - Games / Storage / PageFile
Network / ISP: Wired / Cox Cable
The game wouldn't run today after I decided to check back in CB a bit.
Reinstalled.

I have the Client.exe in the install folder.
I deleted the 0kb Content.ggpk.

I run the Client.
Nothing happens.
No process is opened.
What to do?

I've re-downloaded several times, no change.

I've tried the obvious as well,
using admin privs and compat modes.

Every time I try to run the Client, a crash dump gets made:

Reboot and retry. What it should be doing is Checking Resources / Allocating space to download the 4.6GB file.

Did you disable the AV?
Did you attempt with a Right Click - Run as Admin?
Did you Reboot?

All that done, no effect.

I doubleclick Client and mouse shows something's loading for an instant, then back to normal, nothing happens.

When I logged in last month everything was fine...

Client.exe is the only thing in my install folder now.
7,170 KB.

Reinstalled, nothing.
Repaired, nothing.
Cleaned registry, nothing.
Content.ggpk deleted each time after trying normally, nothing.

When you Reinstalled the Game, did you Delete the Install folder and the Production_Config.ini file in the:

"

C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\My Documents\My Games\Path of Exile

Then redownload and reinstall?

Cause what is going on is if the Content.ggpk file is not being added when you click the PathofExile icon, then its getting shutdown before it does anything....This would take me to the Firewall / AV or another program shutting it down cause it has to scan the resources...

I deleted the whole folder at that location and now it works!
I had entirely forgotten about that folder...
Thanks :) /fixed
No need to reinstall as long as Client.exe is intact.

^ THIS IS A FIX! ^

Woot. Thanks for the update.
OS: WinXP SP2 32bit
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 3800+

Sorry to resurrect this...

Getting a different error when i try to install than everyone else, although I've tried most of the solutions here to try to fix it.

For me the installer starts just fine, I agree to the terms, start installing etc etc but then it stops half way through and gives me this error:

"Error reading from file E:\Alec\Downloads\Browser Downloads\PathOfExileInstaller.msi. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it."

This is when i try to install the game from my downloads folder on my hard drive to my SSD which i use for os/programs/games etc.

I thought this may be causing the problem so I moved the installer file to my SSD (C drive) and tried to run from there. It did the same thing but then gave me this error instead:

"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2203."

I'm running windows 7 fully updated. I've searched the forums for a similar error and googled it also but haven't been able to find anyone with a similar issue.

Any ideas?

Edit: Fixed the problem, sort of... It was to do with system permissions of my TEMP directory. Now I'm having the same problem as the OP and having to do the whole 'don't click ok' thing.
