Question for Wand Witches
|
I have played the 3 Ele witches but have yet to try out a physical Wand Witch. I was thinking about trying one out in the new league but just wanted to get some feedback from others that have tried this out as to how good it works and some different setups/passives you have tried. Thanks

" If you get Programmer in here, he would probably be your best source. He has a 70's+ wand witch I believe. |

Here's what my wand witch has been building toward:
I use Power Siphon w/ Multiple Projectiles, Elemental Weakness, Temporal Chains, Wrath, and Hatred. I'm not the highest of levels, but I've been consistent with the amount of damage I do throughout the game (1-2 shot most mobs). Plus, the animation for power siphon is awesome. It is very wand dependent, though.

Thanks for the replies, anyone else?

" My questions regarding the WAND witch are the following: -Is the basic wand skill count as physical? -Is the "+x% faster cast rate" passives increase the basic wand attack's speed? -Will I have to rely on the basic wand skill through all the game? -Is there a "chance to hit" mechanic in the game? If it is, does it affect the chance to hit with the basic wand attack? -> Will I need to put skill points on dex/or str later on? -I plan to activate the "Chaos Inoculation" passive skill; is it a good idea with this wand build? so far that is what I have. Please answer these questions only if you know the resolutions for sure! Thank you! faz. |

" 1. Yes 2. No, but faster attack speed does. 3. No. You will likely use the skill Power Siphon linked with Pierce and Multiple Projectiles (at least I do). This will give you power charges, increased crit chance, and a lot more damage. I also like to stack auras since it isn't very mana intensive and adds a TON of elemental DPS. 4. There is a chance to hit mechanic. Since you will likely be using green skill modifiers you will have to get dex. However, I found that using a good Jade Amulet (+30 Dex) along with other items and passives will do you just fine. 5. I tried Chaos Inoculation on this build but didn't like it too much. Maybe it's because I didn't have enough ES passives with the current passive restriction, but at higher difficulties you lose your energy shield quite fast by archers and mages, which leads to a quick death. I would tinker with different builds revolving around this before making a definite decision. Last edited by Nous#3273 on Mar 31, 2012, 10:33:46 AM

3.: Adds elemental damage? Hm.. so I'm guessing I can even increase it further with passives like "Elementalist", right?
4.: Implying from your 5th point, basically what this build needs are dexterity and strength. Right? What is this passive restriction? Can I only pile up (for example) energy shield passives to a certain %, and after that point giving further ES pluses won't count?.. * What is power charge, and chaos dmg? Thank you for your answers, faz. |

" This was the latest build I was following (may be different than the one I previously posted; I didn't check). It should answer your questions. I used Hatred and Wrath, along with Elemental Weakness, Temporal Chains, and Power Siphon.

There are a lot of things in that build and basically in the game mechanics I do not understand.
For example: 1: I see that in that build you put a lot of skill points to passives like Frost Walker and Lightning Walker; one might think that those passives increase your cold damage dealt as/with weapons - but as far as I understand, it does not; those passives will only increase the damage of your specific cold/light skills, right? If yes, then what's the point having them? 2: Further seeing this build I noticed that there are passives like Wand Lightning Damage, and Wand Cold Damage. Were these the reason to have those passives (FWalkr., LWalkr)? Can I couple this bonuses, basically transform damage type one into another? I just don't really get it, it's really mixed up - which I have no matter with -. 3: Another thing is Accuracy Rating - is it something like "chance to hit" in Diablo? Does magic always hit, but physical needs this so called "Accuracy Rating" stuff? Since as I read these wand skills are considered physical, I'm guessing I'll need a lot of Accuracy Rating further in the game to avoid not just shooting in the air, right? thank you to anyone who'd be so kind to answer these questions! |

" 1. They increase cold/lightning damage, whether done by skills or weapon base. 2. Accuracy rating is chance to hit. Therefore you need more of it if you want to hit things at higher levels. |
