Sure… I use it. When I can't find something. But it's easier to just know where stuff is and recognize it by sight.

Remember when we didn't have that function and trying to find a gem?
That was a pain. To Shags point, it is nice to be able to recognize an item by sight. ~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.

It might be "nice", but it's not reasonable or efficient.
Want melee splash? Type "splash" and its highlighted. How is that worse than trying to remember what the skill gem art looks like and pick it out of a whole gem tab? Or hover and read? Same with fossils, looking for an arrow design vs. Quickly typing jagged in a quad tab full of fossils seems like a no-brainer. This really cant be a serious objection to quad tabs....they are too big and I cant see?! Really? "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

i've seen this asked a lot over the leagues...
