Socket color combos per chest type

From a thread earlier today I learned that based on the type of chest piece, there are different odds of getting specific socket color combinations. I was unaware of this. Can someone please link to me where I can read about things like this? I checked the wiki and couldnt quite tell.

Also info about the max number of possible sockets per item type would be helpful (for example can gloves get 5 sockets? or is it just chest pieces and weapons?).

We don't have exact odds for chromatic orbs, but the general consensus is that the associated stats have something like a 80-90% probability of occuring.

As for sockets -
1-Handed weapons and Shields - 3
2-Handed weapons and Chest - 6
Other armor - 4
Rings, Belts, Amulets - 0

Oh i get it, so the armor chests have high chance of rolling red, evasion chests have high chance to roll green etc....?

From experience, the best armor to get all colors are those with armor+enegy shield. Pure armor have a very high chance of getting all red or with 1 green/blue. I've wasted like 40+ chromatic on my pure armor helmet and never got all colors together, I most of the time I get only 2 colors red + green or red + blue, other times all red.

Correct. I did manage to get gggrr on a pure armor chest, but it took around 400 chroms. Was kinda funny. I wasted about 400, then rage quit for the night. I woke up the next day, bought 50 more, and got it first try.

I remember in CB I was trying to get my 5L to be BBGGR on a pure ES chest. Spent untold numbers of chromatics on it, and then went out to kill something to vent my frustration. First one I kill, drops exactly the 5L I needed, and with better mods than the chest I had. Sometimes the RNG gods smile on us.
