You'll find more sulphite nodes in story areas as well, but as MangoBaron pointed out, the quantities will be paltry.

Incidentally, sulphite cannot be found in the mines. You are probably confusing it with azurite, which is only found in the mines, and is used to purchase flares, dynamite, and upgrades. This was GGG's way of artificially connecting mine and non-mine areas.

So if you want to delve more, you'll have to play non-delve content more. Whether that was a good design choice is another question. (I happen to like it; many don't.)
