Cleaner / Efficient Monster Affix Display
I posted this in Chris' recent Q&A thread. I would like to see some actual discussion and other views on this topic though so I'm giving it its own thread here.
" Put any D3 prejudices aside, try not to hate an idea purely because it's from another game you may not like. I'm talking about 1 word affixes where the players know the meaning of each and can quickly discern what a monster can do based on a few words. I'm talking about cleaning up the mini wall of text under some monsters health bars. Converting those long winded affixes into cleaner, shorter descriptions, single words, and phrases. PoE has many affixes that may seem difficult to "translate" to 1 word or a phrase but I think it could still be done and done well. Some of them, like "Gains X Charge Every Quarter Of Life Lost", would be better shown visually somehow though. Maybe have the charge orb icon on the enemy health bar at each quarter of the bar, things like that. So taking advantage of whatever affixes could easily be shown visually whenever possible would help clean things up. Even if these changes weren't done across the board to all affixes, I feel at least some of the "easier to describe" affixes could be shortened to 1 word/phrase, things like... "Increased Critical Chance and Critical Damage" could just be called "Critical". "Deals Substantially Increased Physical Damage" could become "Armor Piercing". etc, etc... Those are really easy ones to translate so I don't see why not at least clean those types up. Any other ideas? Thoughts? Completely happy the way things are now? Make RED this lines in this wall of text and I will be happy: Reflect phys dam / Reflect elem dam. This is most problematic ones.

One particularly easy change would be to just make offensive affixes show up in red and defensive ones show up in blue.
I'm not sure I like the shortening of the affixes though.. Reflect Physical Reflect Elemental Increased Crit Extra Damage ... Allies Reflect Physical Allies Reflect Elemental Allies have Increased Crit Allies do Extra Damage ----------------------------- I can see that getting pretty crazy too. I don't really think there's a good solution to it except to make the effects on the ground the enemy walks on a little more distinguishable. Honestly, I think those are pretty great though. " If they're both Reflect it should be Reflects Elemental & Physical else Reflects Elemental else Reflects Physical Anything of the same type of affix should be on the same line.
