Does crafting " attack with this weapon penetrate % chaos resistance " benefit poison damage?

hi there, this is the first time I post anything on the forum,

I try to inflict poison dmg with bow attacks,

info says the crafting helps to "penetrate chaos resistance".

However, the POB says otherwise , even when the enemy is set up to be a boss...


So my question is, does it helps poison dmg ? Chaos hit dmg ?

Nope.

The wording is very specific in this case: "Attacks with this weapon". Poison is inflicted by attacks with the weapon, but the Poison debuff itself cannot ever be an attack. Because of this, it cannot ever benefit from "with this weapon" modifiers unless they say something like "Poison inflicted with this weapon".

Additionally, damage penetration only ever applies to hits, not damage-over-time effects such as Poison. Resistance reduction, such as Elemental Equilibrium or Despair, can help DOT effects, but penetration requires a single discrete hit to function.

Chaos resistance penetration is for hit conversion builds or the occasional Viper Striker, but it's such a niche and esoteric mod than I cannot honestly think of a decent use for it right now. Sorry, man.
