It should definitely be on the loading screen.

But reading patchnotes is even more exiting then playing new league... wtf, people.

Yes but PoE has like, the biggest patch notes I've ever seen, so it's easy to miss one little thing. I'm pretty sure I read all the patch notes of the past 2-3 years (definitely all the major patches) and I didn't know about this currency thing.
