Gilded scarab use not counting for challenge

I used a gilded shaper scarab on a reef map together with two fragments, and it did not count for the Use Scarabs challenge (neither on opening the map nor on completing it, though i suppose it should trigger on opening it). Sac fragments cannot be applied when using scarabs for challenges.

GDI just blew a gilded cartographer as I used 2 sac pieces as well in my shrine map.

Well, good to know then. Do their effect at least apply if you use sac fragments at the same time? As I used a shaper scarab, I can't really say if it did work or no.
