I only use the cold damage to shatter enemies to procc the ring craft and to disable on-death effects like porcupines. If you are like me and value the shock that stacks up slowly you could exchange lightning pen for it but I would only suggest to do that if you have at least ~100 minimum flat cold damage on gear + jewels but only if you have lightning damage on them too, else it is just not worth it in my eyes as our core damage is lightning so I am supporting it as much as possible.

Why do we go for crit chance and multiplier if we use controlled destruction support?

By the way there is no need to take 3 int nodes between elemental overload and arcane potency

Top of EO, Left of EO and under the jewel socket

Controlled destruction works a bit different than a lot of people think.
It does NOT work this way: If you have 80% chance to crit -100% = -20% chance to crit

It DOES work this way: We have, from gear and tree, about 900% increased chance to crit. Remember the core spell has 5.50% chance to crit. The controlled destruction reduces the 900% increased chance by 100%. So we have "only" 800% increased crit chance. Still perfectly viable and no problem.

Yes on the final tree you can add a STR on the left side and one INT node on the right of EO and take out 3 INT nodes for +1 skill point but for leveling I highly advise to go the ways described on the leveling part, this makes your life much easier, as you'd need to go a different and impractical way.

In order to proc freeze and destroy corpses , I use the Three Dragons Mask.

With Syndicate and other deaths from corpses, I pass up on the shock bonus to damage.

For leveling it is okay. But completely unviable for endgame.

On conviction of power it says chance to gain power charge when summoning a totem. Does this mean it only works with the decoy totems? That doesnt seem optimal if we only use them for bosses.

Yes it is for that and slamming a totem every 4 seconds is very doable and raises your survivability a lot. The charges on top are the cherry on the ice cream.
