It requires 4 fragments to spawn the map similar to Atziri or Shaper.

also each multimod craft will cost you 2 exalts. which is a lot. this league with the new crafts its very popular however for some weapons.

the other way to get a multimod affix is from delves and the web div card.
many times you will get crappy base which isnt worth multimodding, but once in a blue moon, you can get a good base with just that affix and then you go ham with your craft bench
