Or play a max bloack gladiator (like mine, you can see it on my chara page). You won't have max dps, but you will survive 90% of the damage the game throws at you.

Your gear is weird.
Why would you multimod such a ring (dex and low fire damage)?
So many low life rolls... Jewels with useless mods...

But where should this tankiness come from?

Weapon dependent passive effects from melee skills would be one option. Like Vigilant Strike but actually practical in a meta that doesn't favour either cooldowns or off-skills.

A fortify style effect without having to burn a gem socket to get it when you're probably also burning one to get some type of AoE that most of the melee skills are also weak at etc.

(Build the effect in stacks so that keeping the full effect requires consistent melee engagement as well, so that one shield charge every few seconds isn't enough).

we will grab the most tanky class and then still use a spell.
If they put it in the skilltree, same story.

First, add some kind of defenses on "every" melee/weapon specific node/notable. Second, nerf the duration of fortify considerably, but let it build duration stacks each time you use a melee skill.

Buff the HELL out of RT (defensive or offensive) , but add an "can't deal spell damage" on it.

There's tons of things they can do, if they're willing. But they're not - at this time.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

The perfect solution to fix Trade Chat:

Try to get some Jewels with +Phys flat dmg, Life and things like Onslaught/Blind or whatever you need (Res/CC..).

Don't believe the Hype!
I'm using Cyclone with CoC Blade vortex and blade fall. Stack poisons + assassins mark and enfeeble on hit.
I melt those fuckers quite good. But they are still scary on some high tier maps.
I played melee last league and enjoyed it quite a lot. It was a blade flurry build with howa and ES/intelligence stacking. ES melee builds should be as good as ever this league.
Leach. Or +life on hit. Not as bad as most people make them out to be. People got used to the old Vaal Pact and now every form of leach is unsatisfying. But it works. Just not as well.
to make melee work u do need to know what ur doing most of the time.

if you want easy melee survivability boiled down to a quick bit of advice:

* roll a duelist gladiator

* use a 1h weapon + shield

* take all the block nodes in the ascendancy and block with shields nodes on the tree

* take the iron reflexes keystone on the tree

* run grace aura

* use enduring cry to get endurance charges and keep them up

* use a basalt or granite flask, or both

thats basically it. Rest of ur nodes go into taking all the life possible and physical attack damage with whatever weapon u wanna use.

Last time I did that as a league starter I think I spent about 30c on endgame gear in trade and the character cleared a harsh rolled T16 vaal temple map deathless somewhere in the mid to high 80s. If ur going self found and u do it right then ull be cruising through yellow maps for sure.

That said theres plenty of ways to do it wrong. gl.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

It's not possible anymore. The moment ranged spells/attacks were allowed to one shot the entire screen - it was game over for melee. And since then, melee got their aoe nerfed (except vaal reave) and also damage in the last patch.

Even if you buff melee by 5000000%, it's still gonna clear slower than any ranged skill.
