Recover my Account

I linked my steam account to a newly created account on pathofexile.com. I got a warning saying that the account was already linked to a pathofexile account and the old one would be deleted if I linked. I misunderstood this because I do not ever remember setting up an account on poe.com. When I completed the linking my character I worked many hours on had disappeared and I was very sadden by this. Is it possible to retrieve it back and unlink my steam account?

Well yes, you need to email support (support@grindinggear.com).
Do be aware that they are on holidays and depending on their priority this process may take weeks. Automatic replies are giving people ETA of February.
