Hierophant + Multiple Totems Summoning 2 totems total.
Is this a bug or no? When I am running multiple totems support I get the +2 total totems, but I am still only summoning two total totems while running it with the hierophant node, is that a bug or is it as intended?

I was wondering about this myself. If I'm correct, shouldn't having the notable + multi totems cause you to drop 4 totems at once? If not, something needs to be clearly stated in-game to prevent people from wasting their time and effort attempting to make this happen.

They both state that you place two instead of one, not that you place one more. They're basically the same effect and can not stack.

thanks for your interpretation, but I am asking if this was INTENDED... not what you think, thanks tho.

It is intended. So both are setting the number of totems that can be summoned with one use to two. Not adding to the number of totems that are summoned per use. The INSTEAD keyword is consistently used within the game.
From Dust: "Summon 2 ADDITIONAL skeleton warriors with summon skeleton" Ritual of Awakening: Skills that would summon a totem summon two totems INSTEAD Multiple Totem Support: Supported skills summon two totems INSTEAD of one Blood Magic: Supported skills spend life INSTEAD of mana. Ice Nova: A chilling circle of ice expands from the caster. If the caster targets near their Frostbolt projectiles, it will expand from a number of those projectiles INSTEAD. If this skill would repeat when cast this way, it will INSTEAD expand again from the same projectiles after a short delay. Spell Totem: INSTEAD of casting that spell, you will summon a totem that casts the spell for you. Ghost Reaver: Life Leech is applied to Energy Shield INSTEAD Inya's Epiphany: 25% chance that if you would gain Power Charges, you INSTEAD gain up to your maximum number of Power Charges So yeah not really their interpretation, but in line with what is well established in the game's use of language. |

I know that this may seem intended, but I think it should be changed.
Hierophant is supposed to be the allround totem user class in this game and if Ritual of Awaking does not cummulate with multiple totems support, then Hierophant gets LESS for using a multiple totems support gem. Yes, he can cast 2 more totems, but he will NOT benefit from the extra totem summoned. And Hierophant SHOULD be the class that benefits out the MOST from totem support gems. And since it is possible to summon up to 6 totems with all bonuses/gems, it would make sense to actually have him summon 3 totems per cast when he has both: Ritual of Awakening and Multiple Totems support. Dont forget that a totem user sacrifices alot: - Clearspeed is clearly inferior - Damageoutput is clearly inferior - Totems don't benefit from alot of nodes - Harder to run good Rarity/Quantity equipment, since you need everything you can to actually rise your damage to an accaptable amount The one thing they gain for all those sacrifices is the safety. But now there are brands, which are up all the time, deal the same amount of damage as totems, dont require a support gem like "Spell totem" or "multiple totems support" and therefore have a better endgame scaling since there are more slots for damage increasement. So my suggestion is to actually change the support gem and Ritual of Awakening in a way, that it increases the amount of totems per cast by +1, making it a totel of 3 totems per cast when using multiple totems support and having the node Ritual of Awakening. |
