Lancing Steel Versus Shattering Steel.
" I'm pretty sure point blank doesn't start losing damage until like 10ms? This skill requires you to be even closer than that to activate the fortify. |

" Not the point blank effect, I was referring to rubbing buttcheeks range. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

" you mean the "sure death" range? the only safe close distance used to be to jump "inside" the boss cause at least stationary bosses couldn't attack you there but that's gone sadly offline

I find shattering steel much better than lancing steel, both skills are decent, shattering is like an improved version of cleave and reave, since shotgun deals a lot more damage, ofcourse it depends on playstyle, i started as a dual wield gladiator since i saw the skills as a spectral throw shield should have been and it go pretty well at the moment, with point blank ofcourse and dual beltimber and the nomad belt in a 4 link, having the pierce jewel or lioneye's armor is mandatory, as i was saying since i'm a gladiator i don't have problems with being in the face.
edit1: forgot to mention, impale totally sucks, build the skills with the highest damage, the impale mechanics force you to build only physical damage with lower your ouput a lot!, don't build with impale on mind. edit2: is not a starter skills, it was hell on earth trying to level with it until i got to 60s. " No, meant the "sure death for squishies" range, I think this skill needs a bit tougher build to be used to its full potential. Lancing is more similar to spectral throw in being more squishy friendly. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

" shattering steel should be treated in playstyle like a melee skill. If you aren't going to get right up close to things, don't use it. |

" Ya when I started this discussion, I said Lancing is the superior one for bossing and was best in general. I've tinkered with this skill nonstop since the beginning. I made the mistake to do both of these skills as my starter and level up with them. It's still my only character for this league and I have been swayed to believe shattering is the optimal one. Lancing is still best for bossing if you focus on the physical portion only, and have a very hard hitting weapon. Shattering is great for clear and can be great for bossing if you have the projectiles, attack speed, and an okay amount of damage. I'm getting close to guardians, and I just want to see how this skill feels against them and also Shaper if I can get there before Saturday because I'm itching to make another build. I've personally enjoyed the journey of trying something new but they still can be improved. Can't wait to try out a Champ version possibly when I remake it again. |

" This is why I mentioned at the start of the post on the two skill descriptions should be reversed. They want you to play super close with shattering but give you a tag of up to 100% more damage the further the projectile. Then you have lancing which has a 100% impale but no increased effect to projectile damage the further or closer you are. If lancing had the ability to gain damage the further it went, then we would have a better skill already. |

I've only played Lancing Steel and it felt awful to level with but mostly because I had shit gear and thought using a shield would be a good idea...
I'm 92 now double wielding Varunastra and as soon as I changed to that playstyle it felt really good. Cleared everything up to and including Guardians. It melts bosses pretty good. I chose the wrong League to play a <5k Life build, though. I get slammed a lot XD |
