[3.5] Ice Spear Miner with CI

Hey,

the first Idea was playing a Miner around the new Ice Spear. The Build is ES Based with CI.

I still need to test it on higher maps, but til now (lvl 70) this build works like a charm, even with a 5 link.
Ice Spear + Remote Mine + Minefield + GMP + Trap & Mine Damage

For Mine Detonation I use a Spelltotem and CwdT as backup.

To deal with the close Range problem I've added the "Proacher's Aim" Jewel for an additional Pierce in first form. This helps alot against mobs comming close. In addition to that, i've added Projectile Weakness with CwdT in case some more mobs come close.

I plan to write a full Guide for the Build, but I want to see first, how it goes on Red maps.

I was thinking about doing something similar but instead of mines I was going with traps and siphoning trap to support. I'm curious how things will play now that cold abilities are getting reworked so much but I'm still having a problem getting it to work.

I don't think we'll ever see it top arc trappers but I'm ready to have a cold saboteur. Let me know if you get this working!

I will try the build and post the results here.

But since I'm no pro Player (haven't killed shaper til now with a self made build), I would appreciate some constructive feedback.
Not sure Pyromaniac is the best pick if you are going full ES.

This sounds viable. I am also thinking about traps instead, so you can place them far from targets versus boss that charge you or stay close and benefit from the crits.

The main problem I see will be the lack of defence. No evasion, no dodge, no block, no leech. Blind alone and some ES (that will be hard to get on traps specific gear) won't be enough for end-game bosses. Unless you can make the damage so insane you skip phases.

I did a Whispering Ice trapper on ES with CI in Delve. It wasn't that fast, but the defense was okay.

about the current build, my plan was to use the upgraded Light of Lunaris. The ES value on the shield should be okay with ~160, then it got a good block rate and some crit chance. Maybe I switch that for a good rare shield later on.
Re: Explosives Expert vs Demolitions Specialist, that's going to depend on what skill you end up using... for Ice spear it probably doesn't matter either way. I prefer Demo because of the node is just better in every aspect and matters on fights where I don't instantly kill the boss.
I wouldn't use LMP with the skill myself, I don't think you would need it.

I'm currently thinking about using GMP in stead of LMP, or drop it at all. This depends much on the clearspeed wihout GMP (it could still be interesting, since the new Ice Spear is allowed to shotgun).

The Main Point for me About Demo or Explosives is, how much the "increased mine arming speed" affects the build.
Since I can't use the provided AoE buff, it gets reduced to:
100% arming speed + 20% chance for a free mine + 5% mine laying speed
VS
10% Penetration + 6% all res

hmm.. after i've written this, Demo really seems better.
