Pure Physical Damage Builds

Rank 7 player in SSF HC DELVE, a russian gladiator player was playing pure phys with Brutality. So it has its purpose when it comes to map clearing else this guy would not have been competetive (unless he is a magic fairy IRL that can make all shit work which he might be I dont know)

But yea I totally agree compared to shaper stats stick conversion and abyss jewel spamming pure phys is absolutely not a good way to efficiently scale damage beyond some hundreds of thousands with normal skills like sunder.

The worst thing about it is how often the "40% phys reduction + endurance charge on hit" mod rolls on red maps. Nobody should ever have to reroll a map because of the monster defensive mods but in this setting you literally only deal 10% of your normal phys damage against toughter mobs, completely unplayable.

So you get lower dps numbers than the other scaling methods and also more fucked by map mods ...

It for sure should be buffed.

banners are LAME way of changing that. 'some extra damage/defence done for a price of busywork and gem/skill bar slot'. who will benefit from banners the most? poet's pen and all spellcasters who currently cannot use fortify reliably

melee? melee already has fortify and struggles so what would that change?


Brutality support is PURE NOOB TRAP. any build using this gem can be made stronger by replacing this crap with real multiplier and applying all (plentiful) sources of %extra as ele + penetration

bleed is garbage. impale is the new bleed - sadly it is tied to some limited skills and most likely will benefit mostly the already bonkers (BFlury) while doing exactly nothing to crap like Glacial Hammer, Sweep, Ground Slam etc thrash


at this point GGG should REMOVE melee (and bottom left part of the tree) from the game. all it does is make new players make stupid decisions when melee is THE WORST archetype of them all having ZERO upsides but numerous downsides


will that happen? no. will GGG reverse their power creep bonanza? no. will they apply new layer of bandaid? yes. banners. the new fortify. great buff for casters, poets and necros. any build with attack based movement skill can use the 'defensive' banner for boss fight

'offensive' banner is for melee and as such is DoA/noob trap

yep, those would have been awesome. was hesitating to use uniques, even got rid of devotos cause delve mobs would oneshot everything below 6k life at deepth 250+.
