Here's what the Snakepit Sapphire Ring is like in Path of Exile: Betrayal

I just see a free Fork without negative damage impact. Aka this ring is better then the support gem.

Otherwise this is not balancing, it's just destroying potential stuff and diversity even before it could happen.

They are destroying a lack of diversity before it happens, that being everyone running around with 2x snakepits, it really isn't surprising as soon as they announced icespears rework everyone was like 2x snakepits, then they did frozen orb 2x snakepits.

Its an item almost nobody used that was going to be straight busted for a couple of skills, this new one is way more interesting from a diversity perspective.

I guess it is alright for a deadeye spellcaster if you want to play that for some reason. Also arc isn't a projectile :(

Ahhhh, THIS IS NICE!

Now you can take projectile spells that normally auto pierce (frostbolt, ethearal knives, phantasm projectiles) and make them do very different things with just a ring.

Chaining, forking frostbolt anyone?

Alas, I see this suddenly becoming a tier 1 unique and all but vanishing....

Interesting? Absolutely. Build enabling? Of course. Powerful? Not very.

Which makes it an interesting and good unique.

This will become a 1c item. The only reason why it will not become vendor trash is that you can at least trade 60 of those for a decent chest. ^^

I'm curious if Storm Burst projectiles will explode on hit with this, or if they just disappear on contanct.

Of course it will. That's beside the point. There are tons of items out there worth 1c that you can wear with success end game.
