Gender Locking

Now I know GGG is pushing out a ridiculous amount of content all the time, but would it be too much to ask to add opposite gender counterparts for each character? I'd love to play as a male necromancer, but the most optimal route will always be choosing witch, so it kind of bothers me :(

Not going to happen soon.

But new 3D-models for all classes are already being produced and should be released in 4.0 (not confirmed, just a guess)
From there it would be a minor step to go - which hasnt been confirmed nor denied yet.

unsure why it matters either way.
options are good though. it would technically be nice though with the amount of work it would take i don't think it would add enough to the game to be worth it.

must be pretty low on the list.
If they allowed you to have a female duelist then we would have a lesbian piety :p
Definitive stuff!
Thats just male toxicity. Learn to be gender fluid.
You have to remember to chase and catch your dreams, because if you don't, your imagination will live in empty spaces, and that's nowhere land.
i'd be for it but priority is low compared to other things, I suppose

Much more work than is at first apparent.

Besides, you can make archetypes of pretty much any play style with any base class thanks to the deliberate flexibility of Ascendancy. Not to mention crazy notables like Spiritual Aid...

I wouldn't ascribe such a huge change to even 4.0. We still don't even have the voice work for part 2 yet. VA logistics for existing characters can be a nightmare...had I wanted to reuse the same VA for my sword as the first time, it could have taken years. Instead I opted for a new VA and went from scratch. I don't think the devs have that luxury with fairly iconic voices such as the Witch's or the Shadow's.

And that's just VA. Then there's all that modeling and animation.

Again, when the system allows for such flexibility within a base class, this shouldn't be a priority. In a different game where class strictly defines function, sure. In PoE? Unnecessary.

ya it would be a lot of work, but imO they should allow us to choose our starting point on the tree and than choose a charr model.
ascendencys would be locked to starting positions to avoid a balance nightmare.
i woudl even go as far and say ,they could sell it as a mtx. it woulnt be much different from using armor sets etc.

Fairly sure early testing used a model of starting in the middle and building your class from there. I guess it was dropped for good reason.

Another arpg in development, Wolcen, uses it very well. I personally like it a lot, but I can see why it would be a nightmare with PoE. Everything is already so open ended.

Starting anywhere though? hell no. Broken as.

no you missunderstood something or maybe i didnt make it clear.
i dont want to change the startinglocation and ascendencys.
"witch" startting location would only be able to choose "witch" ascendancys, what i want is an option to start as a "witch" with all her limitiations having the voice and look of a templar or something similar.

it would neither change balancing nor would it be a lot of work, since the models etc are already in the game.
thats why i brought up the option to sell it as mtx. it would only change the look of your charr and thats the same as any other mtx.

MTX to change your character's appearance/voice to another class?

I don't really think the classes are flexible anymore. The Ascendency options broke that for me. They are too restrictive and powerful.
