Loot boxes
There I was drunk as can be playing some PoE (good times) when all a sudden a message appeared and said hey dumby mystery boxes are on sale!
I bought 200 coins and spent it on mystery boxes. I got the boots the gloves and helm but no chest.. So I bought another (gambling is a thing in poe right?) I got some pretty cool stuff now, but still no chest armour and you really need that! 20 minutes later my bank locked my debit card because I bought 200 coins like 20 times and spent $400. When the liqure wore off the oh crap what did you do dumby kicked in. So I tried to ask for a refund, but "refunding mystery boxes is against company policy" So now I have 4 copies of a portal effect tuns of copies of pets and 4 or 5 boots and character effects and all kinds of neat stuff but no body armour. Now I'm not ragging on GGG, it my fault for being drunk and having a gambling problem not theirs. But what am I supposed to do with all thiese extra copies of mtxs. I cant trade them to other players to finish my set so they're worthless and I'm out a weeks pay. So my suggestion is to and an ingame vendor where you can trade the vendor your extra copies of mtxs. Each mtx will be worth X amount based on it weighted rarity. The currency the vendor gives you is locked to you account and cannot be traded and the only use it has is that the vendor sells the items in the current mystery box. This way no one can pay to win and drunk dummies who blow their money can actually acquire a full mtx set. /edit Or maybe just a recipie book similar to how beastry had. And you can make a body armour by putting in 4 of any other mtx from the same mystery box the chest was in this way you cant trade old ones for new ones. It's been posted 10,000 times. Since introduction. Every time a new box comes out.
It sucks to get duplicates, which is why I never buy more than a handful if any, but it's not going to change. |

" Or maybe no one has made the right suggestion yet? I assume mystery boxes are a huge profit for the company. So taking that into consideration how can we find away to get the pesky last skin to plate a set with out taking profits away from ggg? Idea #3 For 30 coins you can but a recipie from the shop. The items is a 1 time use. And requires 6 skins to be used. And by skins I mean only armour helm, chest, boots, gloves. When you use it item the 6 skins are destroyed and in exchange you get 1 skin back the skin you get would be what ever you didnt put in the item. So if you put 2 boots 3 helms and a glove you'll get a chest. If there are more than 1 chest pieces in the current box it will a random chest, or if say you did all of 1 type of armour set the chest would roll to that set. The weapons character effects back attachments and hideout decorations cannot be used for crafting like this and cannot be obtained by crafting like this, thus preserving their rarity and a reason for you to keep buying mystery boxes. This will do 2 things. Make people feel like at least they can do something with their extra skins and have a change to get a full set to look cool. Also it might encourage people to spend more Because like you said you dont buy them or only a few because chances are you wont get a set and using a partial set looks dumb. Thus the company doesnt lose profit, might actualy get more and we get a chance to get that new armour skin. Also maybe if there are multiple sets like in the current box we would trade 4 blood portals for the other portal or 4 weapon skins for the other weapon skin or 4 chest pieces for the other chest piece. I feel it's less of it wont change and more of a how can we change it to benafit both the community and the company. |
