(Mar 17) HC Ladder Race

This weekend, we're going to run a temporary three hour league with awesome prizes.

It will run from 10am to 1pm New Zealand time on Sunday (March 18 2011). This is 9pm-midnight UTC on Saturday March 17. Here is a link for more time zone conversions.

The league will be hardcore. Characters who die will be moved out of this league and into the Default league. NEW CHARACTERS MUST BE CREATED IN THIS LEAGUE TO BE ELIGIBLE. After the end of the league, they'll be moved back into the normal Hardcore or Default league depending on whether they died. The league will be open for character creation at least 30 minutes before the start of the competition.

Prizes:
At the end of the tournament, we will award the prizes in the Hardcore league on a character that we add to your account. If you want to transfer these prizes to the Default league, then just kill that character.

Random Currency Prizes:

Miscellaneous:
The game version will be whatever the current 0.9.6 version is (probably 0.9.6h). Please note that because this is a hardcore league, a single death can disqualify you. STASHED ITEMS IN THIS LEAGUE WILL BE LOST

Our decision on the winners is final. Bugs and mistakes will get in the way for many players and this is why we are running an event like this. If you lose your ability to participate due to a bug, please tell us about it and we'll do our best to fix it. We can't change the outcome of the event due to this.

Thanks for organizing these, GGG!
What is the most valuable data/feedback you all get from these events? (pertaining to developing the game)
NewDude: I killed Brutus. Now I have no quest. So what now?
Guy: I guess there are people that NEED quests for direction.
Guy2: I always wonder how those people get through life.
GuyMontag: They get married. Wives are like quest-givers.
YAYA!
Care to throw in some beta key prizes, I still got some friends that haven't gotten in yet.

For those like NotSorry I have four mystery keys here, they're mystery because I'm not sure if they've been taken or not. A couple definitely work.

They're a photo because I CBF typing out the keys:

I have done a lot of testing experience-gains in levels 1-25 through the last days.
I have not broken it down mathematically yet, so there may be some inconsistencies, but some surprising facts were:

- Farming at level 1, 2 and 3 was futile compared to farming at level 4. Mud Flats is hands down a better place to gain experience.
- Level 5 was ok for farming and so is level 7, but none of them are very good.
- From a pure experience-perspective Level 8 is godlike. Given the ease of aoe-farming I think it is one of the best levels in the game for that!
- Level 9 is good xp, level 10 is not that good.
Level 11 and level 12 are very good xp-levels.
- Level 13 is meh, while level 14 is very good. Might be worth it to skip the Ship Graveyard and farm The Coves!
- Level 15 is very good from an xp-perspective. Farming some Caverns is not that bad at all!
- Level 16, 17 and 18 are not good xp.
- Level 19 is very good in Felshrine Ruins and mediocre elsewhere.
- Level 20 and 21 areas are very strong areas in terms of gaining xp.
- Level 22 and level 23 are good areas. Level 24 is very good and level 25 is absolutely worth farming if you have got the damage for it!
- Blue monsters give 3,5 times the xp of their levels normal counterparts. I think they are worth farming almost always.
- Gold monsters give 5,5 times the xp of their levels normal counterpart. They are probably only worth killing for the loot.
- Unique monsters are very hard to classify since the formula is a bit inconsistent. Hilloch is worth farming as an above gold-level monster. Fire Fury is a gold-level monster, Hailrake is a lot better than a gold, Oozeback is at Hailrakes level. Fairgraves is a gold. Merveil is well worth farming at both forms!
The bandits are all about gold-level of their appropriate levels. Abomination is about gold-level, Weaver is very good xp, Great White is a good gold monster and the xp in the zone in general is very good making it worth going for him in some instances.
I appear to be living in "Romance Standard Time". That has to be good! :)

Thank you, but I tried all four to give one to my friend, but none worked.
