Animate Guardian Not Working

So I have a lvl 20/23 animate guardian socketed into an unsocketed ring. When I got to animate a piece of gear the animation happens, but nothing happens. I don't get my guardian. Any ideas?

It helps if you tell us the name of the character so we can check instead of having to guess. :/ I find it difficult to justify optional purchases to support a Tencent-owned development studio that declines to provide customers Technical Support, regardless of how many thousands of euros that customer has spent...

What gear are you trying to animate? The item must be identified, and only helmets, body armors, boots, gloves, shields, and melee weapons can be animated. You can't animate ranged weapons or jewelry. The item also can't have any skill gems socketed in it.
