General Discussion - Is PoE really a MMORPG? - Forum

Well only cities are shared. It's like Guild Wars 1. Closest thing you can call it is a "Instanced MMORPG" but that's really not a thing, at the end of the day it's not an mmorpg. As an old, old hand at MMOs, the old group only focus died out a long time ago anyway. Most MMOs nowadays are basically single player games with auto group dungeons through the whole level process (thanks, WoW) and then finally guild/group raiding at end game where like 90% of people quit because they don't want to go through the hassle of group play. PoE is not an MMO, but modern MMOs are starting to resemble PoE to a certain extent.
