Vaal skills + duration + vaal soul gain prevention

I'm glad GGG is trying to balance their PVE game where people can fly across maps in less than a minute and projectiles cover multiple screens while Area of effect skills cover peanuts. But making skill effect duration increase the duration of vaal soul gain prevention timer is lame.

I understand that the game changes over time but changing mechanics in a way that changes what some builds rely on without replacement can be seen as throwing away player investment.

Encouraging exploration into new builds and play styles is cool but taking away possibilities is offensive. I came into this game impressed with the flexibility of how you can build your characters but in the past years I'm disappointed with the strange changes to skills that aren't the extreme power houses in this game. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Players can reach hundreds of percents of movement speed and literally walk across maps while heralds alone clear maps. Why change vaal skills like this? What balance is achieved in the end from this. Attempt to make vaal skills more appealing -> make vaal skills less appealing to build around

I thought the added cooldown to the vaal skills, in addition to providing the base skill, kind of pointed to them not wanting you to build around vaal skills, but to include them in builds. This might be to the point that they were intentionally trying to work in down times for abilities.
