Check out some of Chris's Magic Collection!

I just stumbled across this video of a look at what I would say are some of the coolest misprints in magic and they belong to none other than GGGs very own Chris Wilson. I especially like the Underground Sea. Chris, if you ever decide to offload some of your collection, let me know. The vid entirely features the binder and the cards, with just Chris' hands and voice as he and the interviewer talk over the cards. I get your reticence to pry, Charan, It's lovely. I am a sticky beak who hasn't met the guy and can safely say yeah, it's very discreet.
I don't play MTG - never had the contacts and strong enough desire to go forth and deck up in a local den of intense young men half my age (I know, crazy of me right?) - but the cards are so damn evocative and some are just gorgeous. Which is also why I watched it; I love looking at the cards. To me the flawed ones are less good, but I get why they are collectable and drool-worthy for their rarity and value. Fame would be a tricky one. It'd be fine for when you were at work, doing whatever made you famous and publicising that, but not all the time. Over-familiar people assuming they know you and everything they say is something you've never heard before a thousand times, getting in the way of your real world immersion in your card game, gross. And we complain about deepest delve announcements. Who would you trust to like you for you? Oh no, fame is not for me. Chris Wilson's still not all over an image search, you have to dig a bit. Yes, I just looked. I can imagine the recognition in China would and will be extremely hard to dodge. Last edited by erdelyii#5604 on Sep 6, 2018, 9:36:46 PM

That was a good read. Mmm. So, Serra Angel (yes she's beautiful) and that video sent me on a detour of an hour or so watching videos and looking at pictures.
![]() ![]() *wistful sigh* Not rare or anything, I gather. It seems I might have to a) Become really filthy rich b) go to Tokyo (reasons) c) indulge an eccentric interest in impulse buying MtG cards because they are pretty/cool -looking/ grotesque/ pretty. Hmmm. This won't get me far. Not a bad price but yeah. (One I have lying around, just because. This thread made me check haha). ed: or maybe start collecting the paintings! Because yes, the cards are tiny. Last edited by erdelyii#5604 on Sep 7, 2018, 12:59:40 AM

Yeah, love mtg, thx for vid.
I intend one day to buy all lands in existence for collection, love their art. Dont have anything much of value since I didnt buy magic cards for 10 years now, but time will come. My most valuable atm are Urborg, tomb of yawgmoth that i pulled from my first planar chaos booster, Sunken Ruins, love black/blue so i was lucky to pull it, timeshifted pendelhaven, and a collection of unhinged full art lands that are like 10-12 dollars each as commons lol and when i bought unhinged packs, they were like 1$ and i didnt know it was a special joke edition, so i bought like 3 small box packs 1$ each. edit: I watched the video, super awesome collection, love it Spreading salt since 2006 Last edited by Necromael#6926 on Sep 7, 2018, 10:45:06 AM

" well wizards of the coast is a company that started game "magic the gathering" in 1993. First edition of their playing cards was called alpha, and it gained huge popularity in short time, that they made a sort of reprint of their first edition of cards called beta. With time it became more and more popular, being simmilar to poker but with fantasy elements and huge variety of cards and effects with nice art. Since the alpha edition was a limited print and rarely anyone in 1993 thought it would sell out, over time, those cards gained huge value for collectors. You know how people collect coins, paper money, basketball and baseball cards, well this is pretty simmilar to that hobby. Value of single cards ranges from 1 cent to 30000 and more dollars. Some cards get their value from their rarity and some get their value from being in the meta. Best comparison would be prices of poe items, legacy items are super valuable and you cant get them other than buying from people that got them early on. While meta items also get their value from huge demand. Poe draws heavy inspiration from magic the gathering, like half of maps are named after lands in magic. Anyway, something is as valuable as much as people are willing to pay for it. And people are willing to give serious cash for MtG cards. Spreading salt since 2006
