Bot WATCH! - Delve edition - 9/3

Why are you so salty on bots? Embrace them. They are a hell of a lot more enjoyable when they are working for you.

Don't know if you can relate to this, but we have these little ants we call "sugar ants". They don't bite. They don't even really bother you in any really tangible way. But they're next to impossible to get rid of. If you get a nest of them under your house (and their colonies go UNDER your house) you can pretty much just learn to live with that fact. Poisons don't work. They just come back. They use electric shock. Nope. They just come back. There is really nothing you can do to rid yourself of them. You adapt. You don't leave food out. You wash dishes after each use. You put stuff in zip lock bags that other people wouldn't. And the ants leave you alone.

We need to do that with bots, because no matter what you do, they're going to come back if you feed them. Removal of trading would work, but that's not going to happen. I'd recommend that they try "guild only trade" for a while to see if that cuts out the problem. Dunno. But with trade comes bots... and they don't go away. You can't kill them. You just have to adapt the environment so that they leave you alone.

its exactly the kind of attitude that enables this kind of crap. but hey as long as it doesnt fuck up the economy let them have their fun i guess.

You know why there is BOTS?? Because dumb people buy from them so they stick around.. MAKES me wonder how many accounts GGG ban everyday for people buying things from the AKA gold sellers.

Hmmm... since it's trivially simple for us to see the bot controlled exile, it moves a few yards, pauses a few seconds, moves a few yards, pauses (rinse and repeat) you would think that GGG could code a way to detect such obviously non-human playing behavior and ban those mf's.

As soon as they did, the bots would be programmed to behave differently. You can't get rid of them by killing a few of them. You can't even get rid of them by killing the site that produces and sells them. They will just keep coming back. You HAVE to remove the reason we have them... and GGG isn't willing to do that.

so? who cares. every single game has had bots, period. in fact, the very game which inspired ggg to create poe in the first place, was completely based around botting :) well, not was, still is, to this day. wow as arguably the most successful and resilient mmo has also had botting, always. it happens for a reason, it's not something that you can, or should, fight against. of course, with that said, a politically correct facade must be maintained, to avoid public outrage(regardless of it being fake or genuine).
