Static Strike Scaling?

Started a SSF delve static strike character, wondering how the scaling is, plan was to go 1hand shield sword crit using chain to level then swapping chain out later for another damage multiplier support. What do you guys think about non-chain vs chain as far as overall gameplay is?
Note: this is before I have chain support.

From the moment you pick it up until maps, you don't really need chain support.
Mob density isn't that crazy in act content, all you need is some serious single target damage (that is converted into AoE), like the best 2handed weapon you can use/find/afford at the time. Then you will oneshoot everything while walking past it, feels like a righteous fire build without the drawbacks (or with another drawback, you need to attack things).

I wouldn't use anything that only works with some components of the skill, like chain, inc AoE... Also stuff that lowers attack damage or AoE is out of the question imho, like conc effect, multistrike, chain...

What supports are useful?

Physical based weapon:
Phys to lightning
Melee phys

Ele based weapon:
Added lightning

For both:
Elemental damage with attacks
Lightning penetration
Ruthless
Elemental focus

Maybe:
Faster attacks in early game (to get the stacks quicker)

Mine doesn’t deal damage(I use it for poison procs) but if you’re using it for a clearing skill, go with chain. Even a small pack will give you a significant damage output boost with chain.

If it’s single target, yeah you’ll want non-chain. I’d run a second copy for that though.

Thanks for the reply, might have to take a look at it in the future a bit more kinda hard to supply a SSF character with leveling gear starting off a new league. Might take a look at it later in the league once I have a bit of gear I could spare for it to start leveling somewhat smooth.
