Dying on every delve depth? [SOLVED!]

I tried delve a bit while leveling, finished A10, tried delve now on lvl 69 and no matter which delve depth I go to, the darkness DoT kills me.

I was standing on top of the cart and there was lightning. I can't upgrade Darkness resistance because I have no azurite and I can't farm azurite because every depth level kills me.

Is this a bug, bad design or am I missing something here?

Darkness res goes up the deeper you are trying to delve.

Best thing to do is to go way up and do really low level delves to farm azurite, upgrade light radius + darkness res then move a little lower and repeat till you are able to handle on-level delves.

Found the problem, with help from a fellow redditor.

I use ichimonji and it fucks with light radius which causes my radius to be zero and triggers the DoT.

Ichimonji does in fact fuck you in the mine. Thanks for posting this answer, I have the same problem with the same sword.

Same problem with this sword

The light from flares and the cart are auras. It says you can't benefit from auras from other sources. Don't think they can fix this one... you pretty much have to give up on that sword.

I'm pretty sure they can, although the fix might be complicated enough that it will take a few weeks.

Once upon a time there were hexproof monsters which were immune to curses. Then an item and a passive were introduced which allowed placing curses on hexproof monsters, so GGG had to introduce a really-immune-to-curses modifier on a couple of bosses. They can probably do something similar here.

I guess. Save up a Divine just in case. That's how you'll have to re-roll the sword.

They could also change the light from being an aura to being another sort of buff, like a curse for example.
