Tiers 1 - 3 on gear ?

I keep reading these being mentioned in regards to stats on gear and don’t fully understand it.

Can someone please post some examples to help clarify this

Tier 1 resistance ?
Tier 3 resistance ?

Some other examples would be appreciated also, perhaps on life, armour, attack speed etc etc

A tier means range of numbers for an affix.
Tier 1 is highest.
In game, you can press alt while hovering over an item to look at its affix types (prefix/suffix) and tiers.

tier 1 is not always the highest. Some items stop at tier 2 or 3 with an affix. They really should display the max possible tier as well, like tier 3/1 or tier 3/3.

Agree with you Shags.
Tier 1 is highest for an affix, but we are missing the critical bit of information which type of gear it can roll on.
E.g. tier 1 life can roll on a chest but not on a ring or amulet.
Also there are affixes like the Incursion ones, who may be higher than a similar tier 1.

It's a bit too complicated at this point, and should be added to the info displayed by alt+mouseover. Or maybe enabled on regular mouseover.

So would 45% fire resistance be tier 1 ?

Could be a high roll tier 2, or a low roll tier 1.
Alt+mouseover the item to see.

Note this affects the outcome of using a Divine Orb on the item. This orb rolls numbers inside the existing tier and cannot change the tier itself.
This is true for non-unique affixes BTW.
Divining a Unique Item is a different story.

Hmm don't know much about the Xbox version.
Maybe try some button that's not bound to a skill/action, when selecting the item?
Try the same button that highlights loot on the ground.

If not - I guess it's on GGG's to do list.

Not necessarily :)
It can actually be a combination of two affixes - life, and hybrid.
