People judge way too quickly.
So i will try to be brief: people are really judgemental about builds and say "noooo that does not work nooooooooooooooooo"
i´ve been playing SSFHC for the past 3-4 years and exclusively been playing occulist RF with 0 life regen, only 75% fire ress and guess what...made it to 95 a few times. Most people would say "That is fucking retarded, risky af" yeah well...no, if you´re smart it is not a risky build. Same thing goes for people who say "Phys bow build? Are you mental?" But hey, you miss the big picture. A rare bow has the chance of beating any unique bow in the entire fucking game...That CHANCE is what makes ME being able to have FUN because i have something to look FORWARD to. I delete unique shit as i don´t want the game to be easy but rather going for the top-top endgame rare items. No unique armor,boots,gloves or whatever can beat the best rares in the game..Ever heard of elder/shaped items? So to you who disregard and judge people, think again. For the new season which will start in a couple of days i will most likely go IceShot/Barrage Bow. I will go with a RARE - PHYS BOW. Winter spirit makes it 100% cold dmg converted. People are generally so scared about reflect and thinking phys bow builds are really bad..Yeah, they are to start off with but it also scales the highest out of any build in the game. Easy builds generally don´t scale well (Summoners, Trappers, Miners, Tank builds e.t.c) <--They don´t easiely die either but can´t do stuff fast either. Occulist RF, Phys bow builds, KB, assassin builds <--- scales the best out of everything but can also die easiely if you´re not paying attention. It all comes down to what your goals are: Reach 100 first? Then you have to go agressive builds Reach level 100 in no time span? (Defensive build (trap, miner, summoner, tank) Being able to craft gear yourself throughout the entire season? Agressive builds. Why? Because rares scales higher than any unique item in the entire game. --- Conclussion: Your opinion is your own and even if you think "rare builds" are bad you and me both know they outscale anything in the endgame so be sure to tell whoever wants advice the FULL STORY of that it DOES outscale anything but is terrible as fuck ONLY for the first 50-60 levels, past that point you will start getting 4l every item (SSFHC) , if not SSF you will have it at lvl 20-30 because you can buy/trade items. Most builds (except maybe skeletons with their ability to quickly summon a ton of them under cursor and awesome vaal version) are offensive AF and very risky. Organic chemistry is a weird thing. " I think we see things differently. Summoners generally uses 1h/shield and there is no alot of nodes on tree to buff minions so therefore alot of nodes goes into tree. Even Standard/SC league necros has atleast 200% life on tree and on HC i´ve achieved 270% life on tree as necro, you cannot have that much life as a "damage build" a.k.a bow build or 1h/1h frenzy build as you need more nodes on damage to achieve the damage you need as well as having alot of life nodes. My phys bow build has around 179% on tree and that is for lvl 99 and i even went for all life i could that makes sense and is not wasted points, a necro would have around 95% more life on tree (179% + 95% ) so in that regards it is a defensive build. Some builds have the luxury of going for alot of life nodes and yet remain very very strong (trappers, miners, summoners) a.k.a defensive builds. |

3-4 years must be an exaggeration though since solo selffound was introduced last year (in 2.6.0) Maybe you meant unofficially (?) I was planning to level a blight occultist as solo in Delve but we'll see. Why? no idea. |

" Yea, the league hasn´t been around for a long time but i did mean unofficially - just forgot to put that in. GGG still has a few more gems to reveal so maybe you will find something interesting. I tend to just make the most difficult builds that are around because i like the extra challenge ontop of SSF. I think i made 4 or 5 chars that i went Occulist RF on, it´s not even difficult if you pay attention but it´s one of those builds that if you look away for a second you will most likely die as it´s just spamming life flasks to battle the RF-degen /w mark curse aura that refills flasks on kill e.t.c. But it feels like a very bad build for this league as they said that endgame in Delve would be alot harder than the current endgame maps & bosses so decided to go iceshot/barrage ranger this time, never really played ranged b4 so obviously gonna do the thing no one else does as they think it "sucks?" Which is using rare phys bow from level 1 to...whenever i die. I genuinely hate unique items, i just find them...the same as the uniques in D3. I would like if they worked as i would want them to which is something like: Let´s say "x" rare bow has 35-59 dps unique bow has 50-79 That i can buy, it´s an upgrade, right...But uniques in this game has "specialities" that offer MORE than just dmg...To me that is straight up stupid as it forces people to get them...Similar to pokemon...gotta catch dem all... So i´ve been against uniques and done my best of just deleting them asap or straight up not picking them up in SSFHC. Would of loved if uniques would of been about the same as in D2 |

" Rose tinted glasses much? 90% of uniques in D2 was absolutely shit, and nothing even came close to matching perfect rares or even some of the better runewords. Runewords had their own can of worms though, being mandatory on followers for some builds made them pretty annoying in their own right. |

" Sure, summoners can have a lot of life nodes (because they have nothing more to take from tree - there is very little amount of minion-related nodes), but it is not helping much. Life is usually their only layer of defense, they have no means to restore it quickly (they have to rely solely on flasks and regen), their BiS gear has absolutely no survivability bonuses (just look at Bones of Ullr or Vis Mortis), their ascendancy is very offensive and gives almost nothing to their survivability, and getting one-shot is common despite high life pool. Summons are not reliable as meat shield, neither them nor block can protect you from AoE and DoT attacks. Also, summoners are not off-screen killers - playing as zombie- or spectromancer is a lot like playing RF or melee without leech - you rush through enemy hordes and pray that you won't get stuck or cornered because it is sure death. Convocation is more likely to get you killed than to save you in such situations. And they are not even very powerful in offense - even best summoner build is at best okay for solo and struggles with monsters with extra HP (be it map mods or more players) or endgame bosses. Also, keep in mind that necro bulds = eye sodomy. Whole screen is burning and flashing and tyhere is something moving on every pixel. It makes avoiding attacks difficult. Also people use uniques because they are attainable and of fixed value, are rare bows better than lioneyes glare? Absolutely, however I can farm about 40 glares in the time it takes me to find a usable rare bow. This is hypebole because i've been playing every league give or take since nemesis and i've never found a bow better than lioneyes, so i'd be at something like 100 glares to 0 rare bows but you get the point. Then your rambling about phys bow builds, ignoring that tornado shot, barrage etc is common as fuck (100% ele conversion on a phys bow is the same as using a windripper and scaling flat ele from other source, your just choosing a harder route) Like I don't really get what your complaining about, that some people think certain builds aren't viable? Thats because everyone has a different version of what viable means because its based on your own objectives. |

The difference between uniques and rares is just one single thing:
Known! I might try all incursion long to get a decently rolled 4% reservation reduction helm, but when I know I can find (or buy) a decently rolled Alpha's Howl - that is what I'm going to do. Yeah, I might find a rare helm that offers a lot more defensive and perhaps a little offensive capability, but that's a crapshoot that makes the lottery odds look good. And, of course, nothing out there will offer the reservation reduction on a helm that Alpha's does. When it comes to body armor - what rare can touch Kaom's? Or belly? Or Shav's? Nothing. The raw defensive stats may be great... 2k or more evasion, armor, ect. But no rare will enable 'chaos does not penetrate ES' or +500 life, ect. Uniques are build *defining*. Rares are build *enabling*. Very big dif. Patch Notes 3.15:
