afraid that Herald of Purity is going to result in nerfs to mechanics that ultra-scale off flat

if it's just pure flat added phys, no Brutality-style blocking - sounds like it'll be pretty stronk for Doomfletch's Prism, Facebreaker, Voidforge, Oni-Goroshi...

then again i suppose they added Chance to Bleed Support and shaper stat sticks without nerfing any of those puppies so maybe they're just letting power creep run rampant.

OR the flat added damage is going to be peanuts (+12-24 at level 20 perhaps?? top kek) and this is going to be the "Minion Herald" which I'd personally kinda dislike at first blush since Heralds are supposed to be the selfish skills and I'm personally not a minionator but it wouldn't really hurt any of my builds either so it'd be shrugs all around for me.

it looked pretty strong to me, will have to see what amount it adds.

i hope they buff herald of ice and thunder though , as they are just curse procs currently.
I would rather see physical damage based melee aura (d2 fanatism like).
To be honest when I saw the skill. I was like. Got to try it with my Oni build.

Though I am worried about the guardian changes. I feel like they are trying to kill any form of buff bots out there. I think the skill tree changes will be massive. As they are also reworking pathfinder. Though my build doesn't use either of those... I feel the changes will still impact my char.

I also find it odd that they have this escort quest thing. I feel it will limit the skill gem choices. Such as channel and movement skills. I feel bad for any flickering strike mains. Especially when they have finally made skills like Dominating Blow work on bosses. One step forward two steps backwards I guess. To be honest they should rename the game to "Path of destroyed builds(1.9 bil and counting)".

But being able to add flat physical dmg to any spell does peek my interest. Well if it works that way. Lets hope all the changes are good. Though they have me pretty worried overall. I feel some things are good. But overall I feel their ideas are incomplete. Or not thought all the way through.

So ya this new herald will probable get nerfed to death not to long after it is released. That's what I feel will happen anyways.

It's not gonna be huge, I'd estimate at level 20 it'll be 20 average added damage at best, probably lower. The other two flat-added heralds only give ~47 average damage at lvl 20, and added phys rolls are always way lower than added ele ones, usually between 1/2 and 1/4 the magnitude.

So yeah, maybe a flaring steel ring worth of added damage overall, if that. Alright, but not a big deal in the long run (especially since dfp and facebreaker have been a bit down lately).

It can’t be that huge or it would instantly replace Herald of Ash for like every attack build that uses it, and become mandatory for any phys/conversion build. And it’s not gonna approach Chance to Bleed since heralds/auras are always significantly weaker than gem links.

Looks to me like its mostly geared at pure phys attackers, phys spells, and specialized summoners. My bleed Gladiator is gonna drop Vitality for it, that’s for sure...

Huge or not it will probable be paired with HoA. Just think about that extra DPS and two passive skills too boot. I probable wont see a reason to use anger. Especial with these two costing the same amount when combined. But I can't ever find a good use for anger anyways so meh.

Good point - I guess I’m thinking from the pov of trying to add it to existing characters who dont have any spare mana. And new characters will have to choose too given that there are so many mana reservation options already and this might be yet another “mandatory” one. Not saying that’s a problem, just saying I hope the skill is not too OP.
