Gem swap macro(s)

Hi,
I am wondering if it is legal to make a macro to swap gems by splitting it up to one key for each "server-side action" like:

F1: open inventory and click on my gem
F2: swap
F3: put gem back and close inventory

My motivation behind why opening my inventory and clicking should be behind 1 macro is because it is ok to use a logout macro ({esc} and {click} instead of {c} and {click}). (Yes I use {c} for inventory)

If it is not legal to both open my inventory and click, would this be legal?:

F1: open inventory
F2: click on gem
F3: swap
F4: put back gem
F5: close inventory

If you need gem swap macro then you are doing something wrong.
retired from forum because of censorship and discrimination
I don't need it, but I'm lazy.

This would not be allowed, no.

Also not allowed.

No.

Just curious as to why those macros would not be allowed? As far as I can tell, both of his methods are 1 button press = 1 server action. So what other rule could he be violating?

I'm still baffled by why so many people who play this game feel like they need to write a script for almost everything. If you're too lazy to perform a simple action like swapping a gem, then maybe you're playing the wrong game. Try cookie clicker, might be a bit more up your alley.

As a rule of thumb, if anything could be considered automated, then it can also be considered a bot script to some degree. Regardless of the scale, any form of automation through a script is against the ToS. And yes, even if you have to "manually" input for every step of a function, it's still automated. If your inputs are '1', '2', '3', '4', '5', to perform a 5 step function, that is automated, by definition.

Edit:

People seem to misunderstand the entire "1 input = 1 server side action" thing so badly. First, even if this was the case here, that's not the only guideline regarding macros. If it was then you could very easily make legal bot scripts. You're essentially implying that I'd be allowed to make a trading script with the functions for inviting to a party, opening a trade, inserting items into the window, accepting, and then leaving the party, so long as each is bound to only 1 input. Secondly, moving the mouse and clicking isn't considered 1 output.

People like to use logout macros as an example. If your script is pressing escape then manually clicking the logout button, that isn't legal. None of the legal logout scripts do that. They cut the TCP connection, and because they lose connection, they get booted to the login screen. The reason why they go straight to the login screen and don't stay in game like you would when your internet cuts out, is because the server can't tell if a disconnect was intentional or not. Both examples of a lost connection result in you going straight back to the login screen either as soon as your internet connection lets you (in a forced disconnect that's instantly), or as after the fixed interval that the server boots you. I'm not sure exactly how long the interval is, but I remember somewhere hearing it's around 6 seconds.

Edit: 6 seconds not 7

Literally built-in flask mechanic in game, right there.

This contradicts your answer in your sticky thread:

Unless Chris has changed his mind since then. Esc + Click is exactly the macro Chris is referring to...

Read my edited post above. It's not the Esc + click macro that is legal

The tl;dr is that move mouse to {location}, left-click is not okay.

I specifically asked GGG about this, and was told it would "definitely constitute botting", and that to use it would "place [my] account at risk of being banned." I'm not sure whether they view it as multiple actions or decision making. I could speculate, but I don't want to risk spreading false information. I just asked if it was allowed, and they were very clear that it wasn't.

I'm sorry - I'm short on time, and while I have listened to a couple of snippets, I haven't been able to find either him or Ziz clarifying which kind of log out macro they are discussing.

Could you link me or give me a timestamp?
